The best episode in quite a while.
We finally get the backstory on Nora's discovery of her powers and her history with Thawne.

Who was her roommate? She reminded me of a younger Kaitlyn Snow . . .
We already knew she was a CSI but how easy her job must be with that computer analysis device on her forearm.

Man crush alert: Tom Cavanaugh' RF is the best villian I have seen in a LONG time.

I enjoyed the interactions between Nora and RF.I giggled with joy as he expertly manipulated Nora for the entire episode and then gives Barry "the treatment" when he appears to cry about Thawne using Nora. \:\-\)

Overall it was an engaging episode and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

However, I was disappointed it was so easy for Nora to capture Godspeed. I expected more of a battle to take place.

Did our present Barry ever tell Nora how Wells/RF trained him? How he actually advanced Barry's skills (although for his/RF's own selfish purpose)? If so, I can understand why Nora would have sought RF guidance for training purposes. Although Jay Garrick and Jesse Quick were also available to help.

It had the opposite effect on me, I'm afraid. It struck me as an 'All filler, no killer' episode. We'd already suffered through an entire series of plodding scenes telling us what we needed to know about Nora's relationship with her mother, the power-dampening implant etc. To hit us over the head with a detailed look at it was an irrelevance that only served to distract from the main thrust of the story arc. Especially coming straight after a season break.

The only scenes of any relevance were Nora's interactions with Thawne. But they could have been slotted in anywhere in any mid-season episode.

Agreed. I'd never seen Tom's acting before The Flash, but I took to him immediately. They've asked a lot of him over the last five years and he always delivers. He strikes just the right note with whatever character they give him to play.

Yeah, all good stuff. Although it's poor writing when they haven't explained why he still looks like Wells instead of Thawne. Especially when the last time he was seen (in Legends) he was back to looking like Thawne. Did the high-tech society of the future not think to take away his image inducer (Or whatever it's called)?

Speaking of that society, another case of bad writing was the torture chamber scenes. It just didn't ring true for me.

I've never read the comics with Godspeed, so I have no attachment for the character. All I saw was yet another bloody speedster, and I'm sooooooo bored with those being trotted out with monotonous regularity. I wish they'd used Abra Kadabra, or some other foe from the future instead. I was over the moon that Nora took Godspeed out so quickly.

Three more things to say about the episode:

1) Thawne teaches Nora how to phase through solid matter. Cool.

Except that back in episode 1 of this series, Barry has to teach Nora how to phase (To save a crashing plane) because she doesn't know how and has never done it before. Bad writing.

2) Team Flash ripping into Sherloque for his handling of the Nora situation. He did absolutely the correct thing. Anyone with an ounce of common sense could see that. But Team Flash behave like unthinking jerks to him. Seriously?

Bad witing.

3) They STILL don't have a clue how time travel would work in a single-history timeline. They still haven't thought it through.

Annoying, AND bad writing.

But when he came back again in the Earth-X crossover, he looked like Wells again.

I guess this was just cheaper than hiring the other actor again.

Neither do you. Or anyone else, really.

Sigh!

It's not difficult to work out.

If you're having trouble, I can walk you through it?
