The Green Lantern 005
> “Blackstar at Zenith!” Hal Jordan has abandoned the Green Lantern Corps to join the Blackstars! But to do so, he’ll need to convince their leader, Countess Belzebeth, and pass an initiation test. Which means he must survive a series of trials on the vampire planet Vorr, whose entire population wants to feast upon him! It’s cosmic goth at its bloodiest…with a cliffhanger that’s even bloodier!

Well. That was MUCH better. More straight forward an adventure. Maybe the best issue so far.

It was fun and exciting to see Hal run his scam, ruse, conjob, deception, flimflam, etc. to join the Blackstars. We get to see his initiation guantlet play out from start to finish. That first 2 page shot of the Sunken Quarter was an fantastic image. Hal's conversation with Countess Belzebath during his 3 challenges really helped make it so entertaining right up to his choosing his poetic new codename before the final challenge: KILL ADAM STRANGE! (Wow. That guy is really getting around again at DC.)

Anticipating a very cool clash with Rann's iconic hero and a viscerally satisfying reveal from Blackstar Parallax to CB that he is a mole and more importantly a true hero all along.
