"Sakaar Is Twice The Size of Earth" - I see this statement bandied about on numerous boards but have been unable to find a provable source in-print... Is the statement true or myth?

It say's in the gladiator guidebook that Sakaar's equatorial diameter is 12,150

Why would it matter, since, in regard to the "generally overrated" feat of Hulk pulling the tectonic plates of Sakaar back together your "own take is that It is perfectly possible for the crack/Damage in the plates to be relativly very small" [sic] and that the crack might have been, "merely a matter of yards" long?

It would matter as as i said I personally was unable to find the origin of the much repeated claim the Planet was "Twice the size of Earth" and was naturally curious to the exact sourcing.

....So what in the world has the matter of your tectonic plates comment got to do with anything regarding the question being posed? A Bizarre attitude.

This statement either comes from confusing Sakaar with the asteroid Fixit destroyed or the Planet Hulk Gladiator Guidebook, which gives data on the solar system Sakaar occupies. Sakaar has a listed equatorial diameter of 12,150. No unit is given, but as the whole guidebook is "translated" into English, I think we're to assume it is either miles or kilometers. Being 12,150 kilometers makes Sakaar ~600 kilometers smaller than Earth. However, if these are miles, it makes Sakaar ~4224 miles larger than Earth. This only makes Sakaar one and a half times larger than Earth, though, not 2 times.

Yes, I've no problem with that reasoning. If it was twice the size of earth I would expect the gravity and atmosphere be greater than earth, especially given the planet had moons, but again I can't remember anything about the actual living conditions being that severe outside of the obvious Social/political problem...

BTW... are you the same Daveym who posts at the Battle Board? You know, the one who is quick to berate posters whose interpretation of "comic book characters" do not mirror your own? Nah... don't bother responding, I already know the answer. The "new and improved" Daveym is still a douche bereft of any humor, just as the old Daveym is. As for ignoring me, let's be honest... you haven't kept that promise once since you've made it. Ironic really, since I E-spank you so often in our war of wit that I'm surprised you haven't learned your lesson yet.

who meant half

I would be willing to bet it means km as most articles and guides that I've read seem to favor the metric system a little more.

But wow, with even the planet being half to the size of the earth, pulling the tectonic plates back together of the size of such a planet should make the Hulk be able to tangle with Mangog!

It is a shame you're too wrapped up in your own ego and self-spite to be able to take a hard look at how poorly you come across in just about every post you make, It's time you moved on in life. Seriously.

And to set matters straight if i didn't like the character i would not be posting here at all.
I do like the character but the simple fact is I have lots of favorites of which he is but one, and so i do not obsess about him to the exclusion of any other. I'm just an oldtime reader who grew up reading him and has a great fondness for him. Even taking it a little further by tracking down that creaky old TV show on DVD as well as hunting original art from the series. The main difference being I don't take it all so zealously and personally as you and others do and find this sort of vicious fanbase both disturbing and frequently over-obsessive, hence I am not a regular here and never will be most likely.
I ask you once again to Just step back and start thinking about how odd you come across to me and in front of everyone....

this is how comicdom exists - as myths and legends taking shape in characters and stories.

I posted this on the battleboard and I believe it is as appropriate here as there:

I live in San Jose, about 15 miles as the crow flies from where the Loma Prieta earthquake occurred. Everyday we have a few quakes, but most are so small as to be unnoticeable to anyone. But when we do get a good shake, it scares the hell out of me. For someone to cause tectonic plates to break apart takes tremendous power. For someone to be able to pull those plates back together would take power on such a level that it would be beyond human comprehension. What the comic showed was such a feat.

show no proof of the size of the planet - it also mentions the myth that Hulk 'caught' 150 billion tones' of fallibg nmoutain range when he did no such thing as the actual Secret Wars comic stated.

As far as the mountain is concerned, it appears in the air, then on top of the heroes...Hulk was found bracing it...after it f-e-l-l-o-n-o-u-t-o-f-t-h-e-s-k-y.

Hulk didn't lift it you'd probably boast, true, nor did he place or force the heroes to get in after he did so!?! RIGHT!!!...so tell us how did everyone get under the mountain range?

Get your facts straight. Use your deductive reasoning!

Many of your “Holier Than Thou” posts (and trust me, there are a lot of them) describe yourself better than the person they’re directed at. It’s a shame YOU are too wrapped up in your own ego and self-spite to be able to take a hard look at how poorly you come across in just about every post you make, It's time you moved on in life. Seriously.

I don’t think anyone is debating that. As a matter of fact, YOU have made it abundantly clear on *several* occasions that you don’t have a problem with the Hulk, you just dislike most of his fans.
Your vile attitude toward Hulk fans is no secret; in past posts I’ve listed SCORES of links to direct quotes by you ripping the POSTER, not the POST. Attacking the PERSON, not the argument. Here’s just *one* of dozens upon dozens, that’s so ridiculous it’s actually become a signature on the board:

"I just do not care what you think about anything as i just don't value you as a poster or a human being." [sic] – Daveym

For you to have the guts…the very gall to come on this board and accuse others of things that you, yourself have been far more frequently guilty of is the epitome of hypocrisy. And then to try to come across with this innocent, angel wing-wearing Eddie Haskell act is absolutely abhorrent. The only people you’re fooling would be first-time readers and yourself.

Wait…so, because you collect Hulk items, that somehow negates the fact that you’re a narcissistic, megalomaniacal, out-of-control bully that hides behind threats of notifying a mod if someone gives you back a tenth of what you dished out?
So, because Hitler liked daisies, that someone makes him an okay guy?

    Quote:

The reason why we take it personally is because YOU make personal attacks. Let’s see, in addition to your most recent offense of making fun of what I do for a living, posters have wrongly accused me of being homosexual (“Not that there’s anything wrong with that”) and been made fun of because I make far less money than other posters claim they make, not to mention the obligatory, almost weekly comments about my “inferior intellect” or my “lack of reading comprehension”, etc. ad nauseam.
Wait…isn’t this a *comic book* message board?
Don’t non-fiction comics offer a bit of an escape from stuff like that—not attract more of it?

    Quote:
I ask you once again to Just step back and start thinking about how odd you come across to me and in front of everyone....

You know, I asked you that, once. I even extended the olive branch first and asked to move on. If you click the link, you will clearly see *NO* response from you:

http://www.comicboards.com/php/show.php?msg=comicbattles-2008111922313747

However, there was one time afterward that you did contact me via PM. It was a surprisingly civil message that made me believe (okay, *hope*) that a change in you was eminent (like you promised in your message).
What followed was you basically ignoring me (which is absolutely fine with me—preferred, actually), but reverting back to your true self with most other Hulk fans. So much for that alleged change, eh? A man is only as good as his word.

Soon after, you were back in rare form, actually going so far as to *congratulate* other people for making fun of my profession: http://www.comicboards.com/php/show.php?rpy=comicbattles-2009092219564331

So, the guy that incessantly preaches about proper conduct on this board is promoting not only attacking other posters, but now making fun of their occupation (because, you know, helping children is *SO* 1950’s). And when you take into account that your childish, yet malicious display was in response to my original post which stated nothing more than what was in the comic in question (and, consequently, several other issues congruent to my argument), it makes your unprovoked attack that much more pitiful.

And while I’m sure that you’ll respond with a handful of examples of me giving it right back to you…let’s keep in mind that that’s exactly what it was: me giving it BACK to you. And remember, I’ve got about five examples of you being downright cruel and nasty for every one example you give of me.

We see the sheep's clothing, Mr. Wolf.

(Yeah, that lasted all of about seventeen minutes...I guess an addict needs their drug, even at the cost of their integrity.)

I have Artteacher. You see because of Vile Hulk Obsessive posters like you who like to take snide pokes at posters from afar I got smarter.
Instead of rising to the bait I'm playing the long game, the smart game.
Wondering what I mean by that? Stick around. Its already happening.

I know you very well by now and i know you won't ever put yourself into the position of getting involved in any post or discussion and the risk of embarrasment in front of your peers, hence my additional distaste for you, it's easy to throw snideness from afar in the form of hit and run posts. In fact any idiot is capable of it... the fact we have ascertained though is you are nowhere near as smart as your name implies however.

I'd hoped and thought we'd buried the bad blood but let me say right now everything in my post above is true - I have no dislike of the Hulk or even his fanbase, it's spiteful vindictive posters who hover on the fringes of it like you who spoil the name for everyone. If you want to prove something I challenge you to get involved, stop the eternal B-s-ing and take me head on in posts, what are you afraid of? \(\-\)

From afar?

My peers? I'm afraid of being embarrassed in front of faceless people on a message board about comics?
Since this is what you claim to *know* about me since you've "studied me so long," I can only assume that this is very telling of yourself and your fears. Unlike you, my life isn't this board. While I think Alvaro's got a great board here with a cool community, I actually don't devote sweeping hours of my time on this board.

What any idiot is capable of is turning a debate into a personal affront. The last line of a desperate defense is turning it into something personal. I’m not even sure what this means. Take you “head on”? In what—a “Who Can Be the Biggest Insulter” competition? How about instead of challenging me to a contest, you just stop being a sour, hateful little child? How about that? If I’m the terror you say I am, just ignore me. Then you won’t have to go through the sheer torture that is my incredibly low intellect and my posts with no text.
