I thought this was a pretty good issue. The artwork was great and the character building moments between Vixen and Roy where great. I feel that Roy is truly a member of the JLA now and I find Vixen's new abilities very interesting. If used correctly Vixen could be the most powerful member on the team.

Roy was awesome!

And I'll say a tad bit more,
The revelation in the issue was cool, but I'm curious if Meltzer will wrap it up by his last/next issue. I really hope there's not too many loose ends, when he leaves, I'd be happier to see him stick around longer to wrap them up than leave them hanging for another writer (unless its geoff johns \:\) ).

I just read an article on Wizard.com stating that she (Vixen) reveals she no longer has her totem powers. Sounds to me like a major discovery regarding a hero's powers were revealed in this issue.

It’s at this point that Vixen reveals she hasn’t had her animal powers since the fight with Amazo two months prior. Red Arrow figures out that she’s been leeching powers off of those around her since then, by absorbing the “human animal”.

Please refresh my memory but wasn't Vixen using powers without her totem during Meltzer's arc? I seem to recall someone (Plastique?) stealing it and Vixen still displaying powers.

"Probably the most famous speech from the GREEN LANTERN/GREEN ARROW story is the black guy coming up to Green Lantern and saying 'You helped the green guys, you helped the purple guys, you helped the blue guys. What have you done for the black guys?' And my answer would have been, I saved the world 15,000 times, duh. I didn't go out to save the white guys, I saved the world. So get off my back."

Yes, it was stated that the totem helped her focus her powers, but it wasn't the source of her powers.

Just something that bothered me when I read this issue. Vixen had apparently been leeching off the powers of other heroes, while at the same time pretending that she still had her original animal powers. So why would she even consider leeching off Black Lightning? Exactly how was she planning to use those powers and still make people think it's from an animal?

And yes, I did think about electric eels, but I dont think people would buy that if she actually shot some lightning.

Artistically, no complainats. The story was a bit boring. I wonder does this particular issue tie into events from Amazons Attacks???

I agree. Was concerened about the artist change, especially after the 1st page and the blank word balloons(??!), but after the double splash page it was obvious that Gene Ha drew a fantastic issue for this type of story. An refreshingly different superhero story. And it WAS a superhero story featuring Roy -- Ironing Man is absolutely right, Roy WAS awesome!

The revelation WAS cool, though Silver brings up an interesting point this thread. And not exactly sure where was BL before and after?

The theme layout worked very well with the narration and dialogue. One could almost put themselves under(over) that building and feel the drama while reading but Roy's good sense made the vicarious experience entertaining. Though a few more expanded or enhanced pictures might not have hurted (not a complaint as a wish to get even more visual entertainment for my comicbook buck). And still not 100% clear what to gather from that building breaking scene though it was obviously the source of their misadventure.

Some of the good stuff I can say...

The panels.
Imagery from Roy's narration.
Bravery from Roy's voice.
Protected spine.
Fate of his hands.
First time Roy sees Mari (banner submitted).
"Gar after we lost Terra".
Coaching by Roy.
Closing the eyes.
Superman talk.
Picture of Lian.
Arrows used.
The necessary revelation.
Waiting for the tug.
Don't say it.
Praying.
Upsideways balloons.
Final splash (no pun intended).
The reason he's(and she is) on the team.

I wish people would stop calling it leeching, it makes it sound like she stealing somethings from her teammates.

Maybe she could play it off as magic electric eel bolts. ;\-\)

It also appears that Vixen's range for mimicking abilities is 150 feet.

It does act similar to Parasite's powers but there are no ill-effects at the end. So instead of "leeching" how about "mimicking"?

-bigtime out.
