This may be a good reading week. Started with reading Uncanny and now this. Compared to last weeks comics in general, stories getting better and better. Here's some page by page reactions for...

The cover was drawn excellent. Batman's action pose is cool. But the context is rather boring after 12 issues. But this'll be getting better. Saw a preview of #23-25:

And the series is staying true to the theme which can be respected. The subject heroes will be switching from the Big 3 to an ecclectic variety of faves which is attractive. AND the background image and upfront action seems to be exciting context! Better and better.

p1-3 Very nice characterization & flashback prelude to the action cliffhanger to tease readers last issue. These CSA are soooo evil which is good for a comic book starring Superman. And personally relived fond memories of DND days fighting a mimic/floor with the excellent presentation of the cruel fate for Transmuto!

p4-6 Anyone clear why exactly the CSA left this ragged asteroid satellite for the more impressive greek temple base on a flying crescent on page 1? And why is GL helping Firestorm breathe in space? Have we seen these Warwolve-wannabes in any DC comic before?

p7-8 Two pages of setting up what should be a entertaining fight. Surprised the story and JLA let the JLA show up so fast. Still it was a great moment. Just the minor detail of them on aircars was such a relief from my pet peeve where theyre ALWAYS riding, potentially unsafely too, on the whim of a Green Lantern platform wherever they go. {Though unclear where the aircars came from...} Seriously liked the scene sooo much thought it bannerworthy:

p9 Better appreciation for the series' villains with this interlude. Just thought Enigma was a throwaway villain {and a copy of the Riddler's real name}. Not only gained respect for him for surprisingly and mysteriously putting other 2 BIG guns in their place, which parallels him to Bats in the other trinity but the reveal in the second story makes the name annoyance here a refreshing unconventinal/entertaining identity reveal.

p10-11 The colorful CSA fight continues. Supes attitude, Bats annoyance, WWs funny fun comeback line -- all good.

p12-13 The covert team fight continues. Did Red release the 4th secret, atom-sized member or what? Is Stewarts' Rhodey-wannabe transformation problems more compelling or what? Its the 'what' that helps makes issue 13 a must read.

p14-23 All that and now we get this 2nd story! Can NOT tell which art is better - both are so good. Plus... The Riddler! The Penguin! Nightwing/Robin appearance where they look better than last issue. HATED the puns in the George/Arnold BM movie and this issue seemed a parody of that which had me...err... warm up to the Edward/Victor dialogue. A secret employer mystery to have fun guessing at and the satisfaction of finding out without having to wait months. Plus yet another appreciated and more subtle identity reveal, mentioned above, to leave you wanting more. Aaaaand WHO is this new enchanting M-Z character to fall in love with?

Better and better.
