OK, the new Justice League of Canada team is actually called Justice League United, which will take place in both Canada and in outer space. Jeff Lemire and Mike McKone are working on the series which will begin in April. The members are Martian Manhunter (finally, my prayers are answered), Adam Strange, Hawkman, Green Arrow, Animal Man, Stargirl, Supergirl, and the Shannen Koostachin inspired First Nations girl. So, we now know instead of three former JLA members, we get four (namely Martian Manhunter, Hawkman, Green Arrow, and Stargirl).

The first storylines will involve Rann and Thanagar (so expect a lot of Adam Strange and Hawkman in these stories), while another involves Hawkman himself. There will be more characters joining the team (my big bets are Atom, Black Canary, Centrix, and Simon Baz Green Lantern) in the issues to come.

And, oh yes, Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman won't be part of the team. I doubt Aquaman, Flash, Hal Jordan Green Lantern, and Cyborg will be on the team as well. As for the remaining members (namely Catwoman, Katana, Simon Baz, and Vibe), I can see Catwoman returning to her shady past, Katana returning to the Birds of Prey, and I'm not too sure about Vibe since I never liked him. Personally, I'd like to see Simon Baz be the Green Lantern of the team. And I'd like to see the remaining members be replaced by Black Canary, Atom, and Centrix.

So here's to a new title created by Jeff Lemire and Mike McKone and a kick ass team of Martian Manhunter, Adam Strange, the First Nations girl, Hawkman, Green Arrow, Animal Man, Stargirl, and Supergirl. And maybe more.

I hear that Vibe may be moving into the Flash family soon. I'll note that Lemire wasn't misleading about who is joining the League from the old team... apparently Hawkman won't be joining until the team is established in the first arc. (Same for the new heroine. Glad she'll have someone her own age to talk to, honestly.)

I know Hawkman and the new Cree girl will be joining after the first arc, but the team is still Adam Strange, the new Cree girl (based on Shannen Koostachin), Hawkman, Green Arrow, Animal Man, Martian Manhunter, Stargirl, and Supergirl, with Alanna Strange as a back-up.

I knew Catwoman would not be part of the team since she wants to be solo again. As for Katana, I could see her with the Birds of Prey. Vibe's probably going to be in the Flash family (I wish he could go to Earth-2 to stand toe to toe with Captain Steel; if you've read the comics in the 1980s, you'll get the reference). As for Simon Baz, I'm not too sure about what will happen to him, but I always wanted to see him in JLU since the team needs a Green Lantern. Maybe he can fill Hal's shoes in Justice League.

Here are some candidates for future members:

+Atom (either Ray or Ryan; he was my first choice ever since Hawkman and Green Arrow were announced; it could bring some nostaglia to the team)
+Black Canary (just to take Katana's place)
+Centrix (we really need the Global Guardians in the New 52)
+Booster Gold (he's Canadian)
+Blue Beetle (either Ted or Jaime)
+Captain Atom (this guy needs to make a comeback)
+Guy Gardner (if Baz is not available)
+Black Lightning (for diversity's sake)
+Metamorpho (with Silver Age favorites Adam Strange, Hawkman, Green Arrow, Animal Man, Martian Manhunter, and Supergirl on the team, now is the best time to put him in, too)
+Captain Steel (to take Vibe's place)
+Super Chief (same as Black Lightning)

Still, I'm super excited about Justice League United.

When Justice League was rebooted in 2011 Ryan Choi was stated to be one of the eventual recruits who would join (presumably) with Element Woman and Firestorm, I'm still waiting.
The Atom really has had a rough time over the last decade and I'm not sure why, the League needs a scientific mind like his and while I can see that Ray Palmer is hard to connect with Ryan Choi was a terrific successor who appealed more directly to the audiences age group and expectation.

But like Ralph Dibny The Atom seems to have gone right out of fashion at DC.

We can narrow your options down a little... Ted Kord's going to be around in the mainstream JLA book, which fills his role, and Captain Steel being stuck on Earth-2. My guess is that we'll end up with Ray Palmer joining as the Atom, myself.

While I'm excited about the new book and the roster, I wonder who's going to be the leader of the group. I doubt it would be one of the girls since all three female members are teenage girls. My bet is either the Martian Manhunter or Adam Strange.

Plus I can see the Atom on the team in the future. After all, a majority of the group are Silver Age superheroes (Adam Strange, Hawkman, Green Arrow, Animal Man, Martian Manhunter, and Supergirl) and the Atom would fit in perfectly. I also hope Black Canary will join to replace Katana.

I've just read a note on Jeff Lemire's Twitter saying that the new First Nations girl will be 16 years old (the same age Shannen Koostachin was when she died). Also, Alanna Strange will be in the comic as well in order to support Adam.

In addition, he said that he'll be adding another female to the roster. My bet is the Black Canary since Katana is no longer active in the Justice League. I could just see Black Canary on the roster now. Imagine a team of Martian Manhunter, Green Arrow, Adam Strange, Supergirl, Hawkman, Animal Man, Stargirl, the First Nations girl, Alanna Strange, and Black Canary. If only we can see the Atom as well.
