Subj: My review of Justice League United #3 (Spoilers)

I just got a variant copy of Justice League United #3 (which says Justice League Canada on it) and I'm planning to get a real copy soon. This story is Part 4 of a five part Justice League Canada storyline and picks up from where #2 leaves off.
We start off with Miiyahbin as she encounters the demon, who is pretending to be her grandfather. The demon claims he is one of the Seven. Meanwhile, at the Citadel of Rann, the scientists of Rann project a beam which brings Hawkman, Byth, and Adam Strange (WTF) to the Citadel. Byth tells the assembled group of scientists, Adam Strange, and Hawkman that Ultra the Multi-Alien is awakening and this is only the beginning.
In the desert of Rann, the assembled Justice League of Canada (namely Martian Manhunter, Stargirl, Animal Man, Green Arrow, and Supergirl) with Alanna witness an explosion at the citadel. Supergirl points out that Hawkman and Adam Strange are present with Byth and baby Ultra. The sight is interrupted by a fight with Lobo. Green Arrow shoots an arrow at Lobo which explodes in his face. Supergirl later gives him a punch to who knows where. We'll find out in October when Lobo gets his own series. This follows with an Animal Man/Green Arrow interaction. Martian Manhunter reminds Supergirl that they're on a mission to find Hawkman and Adam Strange and asks Supergirl to join the team. Alanna later switches places with Adam Strange (don't worry, they'll switch places throughout the book. Martian Manhunter explains that the Zeta Beam is going haywire and they must go to Sardeth' citadel.
At the citadel, Hawkman finds Alanna, but she later switches to Adam Strange. At the same time, Byth and baby Ultra escape. Meanwhile, the rest of the Justice League reach the citadel. During the rescue mission, Alanna falls, but Animal Man using the powers of the eagle rescues her. Hawkman and Adam Strange are happy the others (including Alanna) have joined them. Sardeth sends Alanna back to Earth just to play it safe. The reason why is because Ultra destroyed the Zeta Core and could annihilate all of Rann. Adam Strange, Animal Man, Green Arrow, and Hawkman assist Sardeth to Hawkman's chagrin. Hawkman reminds Martian Manhunter that Byth is a war criminal on Thanagar. Martian Manhunter reminds his old teammate that he was a member of the Justice League of America and that he followed all of the Manhunter's commands. Hawkman reluctantly stays behind while his teammates (Martian Manhunter, Stargirl, and Supergirl) track down Byth.
Meanwhile, Byth escapes with the now toddler Ultra but is surrounded by the incoming Martian Manhunter, Supergirl, and Stargirl. Supergirl delivers the first blow, but she misses and lands on the ground. She later fights a Red Lantern version of her (actually Byth) who later shifts back to Byth and attacks her. Back at the citadel, with the Zeta Core damaged, Animal Man suggests evacuating the city. Hawkman disagrees and flies away with the damaged Zeta Core as far as he could.
Meanwhile, Martian Manhunter and Stargirl talk some sense into Ultra, who now matures to a young child (possibly two or three years old). The Manhunter asks Ultra if he can help the young alien. During their talk, Ultra begins to change. At the citadel, Animal Man talks Hawkman into not doing the job, but the Winged Wonder reminds Buddy that he has a wife and daughter on Earth and Adam has Alanna and that Carter is a loner. He asks Buddy and Adam if he can be buried on Thanagar if he dies. As Hawkman flies off, he is caught in the explosion, which Supergirl, Stargirl, and Martian Manhunter witnesses. Meanwhile, Supergirl encounters Lobo again, who drives off after the explosion. Supergirl flies to the explosion and the assembled Justice League of Canada finds out from the Girl of Steel that Hawkman is dead (how dare you, Jeff Lemire!!! How could you kill off Hawkman? He was one of the reasons why I buy the JLU comics).
Overall, this issue was another great issue, except the fact that Jeff Lemire killed off Hawkman. I just hope he is resurrected next issue since he is one of the reasons why I want to buy the Justice League of Canada comics (the others being Martian Manhunter and Green Arrow). All I'd like to know is will Hawkman stay dead or is he just playing possum? Or will he be resurrected? There are other questions pertaining to the Justice League of Canada: will Hawkman and Equinox officially join the team? Will the Atom be added to the team? Will Ultra mature into an alien hero? Will Ann Murray sing the Canadian anthem? Will the Justice League of Canada meet Justin Bieber (especially Equinox, Stargirl, and Supergirl)? Will the Atom appear in Justice League United (I also hope he joins the team)? Will the team stay Adam Strange, Equinox, Hawkman, Green Arrow, Animal Man, Martian Manhunter, Stargirl, and Supergirl? Will the JLC hold a reunion and invite Simon Baz, Katana, and Vibe? And the big one: WILL JEFF LEMIRE BRING BACK HAWKMAN??? I just hope he brings the Winged Wonder back to life as he officially joins the Justice League of Canada.
Next issue will wrap up the storyline and will feature Miiyahbin becoming Equinox again. I hope Jeff Lemire brings back Hawkman in time as well. I also hope Jeff and Mike add the Atom (Ray Palmer) to the team since I think he's an appropriate addition to the team. Until then, JUSTICE LEAGUE OF CANADA RULES!!!
