Should I have recognized who Starman was when he pulled his mask off?
I get that he's from the Kingdom Come future, but pulling off his mask seemed like it was supposed to be a dramatic reveal, but I don't recognize the guy. Is is someone from JSA, or just the Starman from Kingdom Come? Because I don't think he was ever shown without his mask, so I don't get why pulling off his mask would have been a big deal in the issue?

Let me know what you think.

**sigh** The new Star Boy has only been around for 2 years and already the original has been forgotten.....

This is the original Star Boy as an adult. This, along with a glimpse of Dawnstar's arm (another member of the original version of the Legion of Super Heroes), has given many fans of the original LSH some hope that they will return and replace the current Mark Waid version.

See the link below for more info.

Also, he turned up in the last issues of Starman, where it was stated that he would be the next Starman.

Is it the same guy from Starman? This look and Dawnstar have not existed since Zero Hour. The Danny Blaine/ Starman that helped Jack Knight was the post Zero Hour hero, which might be a different Starman. Since Waid’s reboot the post Zero Hour Starman doesn’t even exist. I hope it is the original.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know anything about the old Legion. I really like the current version, though, I hope they don't get rid of them to bring back the old version. I know sales haven't been great, but the book is consistently great every month.

I like this new Starman, though, even though it seems he's supposed to end up dead according ti that link.

If only because there was a Dawnstar in that post-boot future version of the Legion too. We could see her in the "Legion of Superheroes" splash with Superboy and Supergirl. The idea is that this Starman is far into even what we saw in the post-boot future legion stories, so seeing Dawnstar in the mix doesn't automatically make it the pre-boot legion.

Wow that sounds complicated when you write it all out.

Check out the pre-crisis Legion. I'm not sure of the history of Starman and how this character has interacted with him, but the man behind the mask is Thom Kallor. He seems to be able to fly under his own power again. I am wondering if he has regained the powers he received from a comet fly by, which were close to Superboy's level.

The arm of Dawnstar looked like that of the pre-crisis version.
I look forward to seeing more of these characters who are rich in history.

He doesn't have Superboy-like powers. Originally, he had these mass-altering powers. But then he went through the tail of a comet and gained Superboy-like powers. But when the radiation went away, he still had the mass-altering powers (which you see in the story).

I didn't get that he was a member of the original LEGION at first either. Knowing the quality of Johns' writing I'm sure he'll explain everything soon, you just know more of the secret in less time if you're familiar with the original LEGION. Also if you look in the back of the Kingdome Come trade you can see that Kingdome Come Starman is the Starman of the original LEGION. To me this all but confirms the theory that the origina LEGION Starboy was trying to travel back in time to reach the JSA, but waylayed in the Kingdome Vome universe and just now arriving in the DCU propper.

Here's a kicker...the "orginal" Starboy from teh Legion was Thom Laor as stated...he met Jack Knight. Alex Ross said he made the KC Starman look like the 70s Starboy's costume.

Waid rebooted teh legion...isn't Starboy also Kalor there? And...a black kid? ( I assume "African American" means little when comming from another planet by then)

And yes, we saw DAWNSTAR, which as far as I know, is a character not in teh current Legion reboot. Kalor is also a KID there.

This does seem to be a time/continuity tossed Starboy.
