With Marvel killing off Captain America, DC should go and buy the rights to him and put him where he belongs, in the JSA!!!
Does anybody know if that court case for the ownership rights is still happening over Captain America?

Umm...I'm pretty sure that would be nearly impossible for DC to do. Especially since the Captain America title is still going to be published, even with Steve Rogers dead...

Yeah, that ended about 5-6 years ago. Joe Simon settled with Marvel Comics. It was an undisclosed settlement. But Marvel owns Captain America and Joe Simon receives creator credit.

My comment on this issue is that DC should just sit back and watch Marvel destroy itself and they'll be able to pick up the rights to all the characters they choose. I just don't think Cap will be among them, because a character draped in the American flag or colors at DC is a government stooge (Major Victory) or mishandled (Uncle Sam).

Well kind of Marvel says they killed him, but in the Civil war Initiative book ms marvel tells spier woman that steve rgers is still alive, plus it is rumored that the punisher will start wearing thee captain america mask. Aslo marvel wont destroy itself. Like DCs new thing is the weekly comic, marvels is 7 events in 7 years

Also does anyone else see a problem with DC buying all their characters from alternate sources??? I mean captain marvel, catman buletman, plastic man, uncle sam. I mean i dont rember marvel buying chracters. I love DC dont get me wrong but it just kind of bugs me.

Neither of those characters are iconic like Captain America, Spider-Man, Batman, Superman, or Wonder Woman though. Writers have more freedom with minor characters to mold, twist, and contort them as they see fit. Flagship characters remain relatively untouched.

A lot of the time they bought them from dying, defunct companies or to kill some of the competition. And the last time they did this was decades ago. It's better than all these heroes being in limbo, IMO.

That Marvel didn't do this is only 'cause they did not have the resources DC did.

And what Marvel did in the 70's/80's was incorporate licensed characters into the MU(Human Fly, Godzilla, Transformers, ROM, Micronauts, etc.). and now that the licensing is done, they can't use the characters.

Well they did buy Wildstorm and ABC within the last decade, though I'm not sure if either were struggling financially. They have at least established that the DCU and WSU are connected, even if they don't interact as often as the integrated company characters.

That would be Awesome!!! Talk about a man out of Space and Time. MArvel's greatest hero falls through a worm whole or something and ends up stuck in the DC Universe. Black Knight was in the Ultraverse for a time so I think it is plausable.

He really didn't like the superheroes in the DCU when he visited here initially...and although he respects them now, I think the whole "hero worship" thing would grate on him. Even though people are still wary of superpowered beings, they're a whole lot friendlier to them these days.

I'm sure even the JSA would feel a bit odd, with all these senior heroes who actually lived through years and years of experience in their prime. Cap used to be unique because he was such a man out of time when all his contemporaries in WW2 were dead. But in the DCU, he'd probably bow to Alan Scott or Jay Garrick's leadership than his own. He'd be the small fish in the big pond, so to speak.
