It definately seems like everyone has an opinion on this new character. Personally for me (although like the idea of were people in comics) its too early to tell ultimately to where this is going but the fight with Vandal savage was good in that it showed some small ammount of Wildcat jrs charcter. My question to the board is ....Wildcat Jr....good or bad idea for a character??

I'm enjoying the character so far. Not only do I like new characters, but it also is interesting to see how Ted's character changes in response to Tom.

I only have to say nay not because I hate the character, but I think Ted having a superhero son that isn't a part of the JSA would kind of be interesting. I mean, Wildcat Jr. was a loner for most of his life (that was the impression I got). It just felt too much like your typical cliche ending to have him join the team at the end of the first arc. I was hoping Geoff would do something a bit more suprising then having him join.

Yea, i pretty much agree with punishment. I don't hate the existance of the character, i just dislike the fact that johns had him join the family biz. It would've been more innovative if Tom would've just stayed a civilian...

...and becomes a boxer. I'd love for this guy to become a boxer and not a superhero. He'd probably have to not use his powers and it would take a large amount of control, but I'd love for this Wildcat to just become a boxer to honor his father.

I would like to see Wild cat Jr. be with people his own age. Like Teen Titans or Young Justice.

Yeah, but haven't they established that Tom is 22 or 23? I mean, he's older than Stargirl and Cyclone, right around the same age as Damage, the new Steel would be right around that age too...

I just don't like it when they lump characters together strictly on age...

It's a bad idea. First of all, there's already fourteen members, not including Obsidian. We don't need anymore members, but it looks as though "Mr. America" might be joining, and quite possibly some others from the way Sands and Obsidian were talking.
But setting that aside, I still don't like the idea of another "Wildcat". The whole idea is lame. Just because Ted goes by the name Wildcat, his son turns out to be one? Silly. If they wanted me to like the character, they should have given Ted's son a whole other set of powers, with nothing similar to his dad at all.

I feel like they are setting Ted up for an execution and replacing him with "Tom-Cat". Please tell me this is not happening.

I agree. I'm not thrilled about Wildcat jr either. The idea that his son happens to get were-cat powers and turns into furry version of his father's costume is lame. But it's no more lame than Jay losing his connection to the speed force only to find out that he happens to be a metahuman with speed powers... *gah*

Yeah, that wasn't good either. I'm just glad though that DC didn't depower him.

I don't see that happening to be honest...

It does not matter to me if Tomcat turns out to be the greatest legacy character in comic book history, I still say it's a bad idea. I have brought this up before on the board but it needs repeating - one of the most interesting elements of Wildcat's character is the fact that he has no direct legacy but at the same time has hundreds of indirect legacies in the other heroes he has trained to fight. Making him father to none but "uncle" to many makes him a very unique character and gives him a lot of room for interaction with a broad range of younger heroes. I liked the concept of the "nine lives" for Wildcat that was introduced in the "Crisis Times Five" storyline. It went a long way to establish why he was still around and, again, make him a more unique character. Now this has been taken away from him in a very stupid story and he's been saddled with an out of left field heir who just happens to be a meta for no apparent reason AND turns into a giant cat to boot! It seems to me that writers have been on a concerted roll over the lsat few years to make Wildcat just as boring as a lot of the other DC characters and I think they need to back off. If they are hell bent to get rid of the current Wildcat then I say just let Ted Grant walk away and never be heard from again. Don't burden this already badly maligned character further with a half ass death story just to try to sell books.

While I'm not thrilled with Wildcat's son, I'm not totally against it either. I like the idea that Ted is and will remain just a normal human with extraordinary fighting prowess, while at the same time, introducing his son does satisfy some small part of me that would love to see a feral Wildcat character as depicted in Kingdom Come. Its way too early to tell where they are going to go with Tom. But I do see 3 possibilities.
1. Ted eventually dies and Tom replaces him.
2. Tom grows up into the character shown in Kingdom Come.
3. Tom coming into direct confrontation with the Golden Wasp (Yellow Wasp), who I totally believe IS Wildcat's first son. Setting up future stories of rival brothers while adhering to the 'Wildcat vs. his arch-rival G. Wasp' theme.

I wonder if it was lost on anyone that Vandal Savage attacks the Wildcats, and in Kingdom Come is Wildcat leaping across the table to attack Vandal Savage? Was I the only one that picked up on that small little correlation?

I like the new Wildcat character,he has a cool laid back persona and I`m looking forward to see Tom bond and train with his dad.I also wouldn`t mind seeing Tom and Cyclone start a friendship, they`d make a good pairing.
