Jay Garrick is at the top of the list. Then:
Alan Scott
Powergirl
Kal-L
Starman (Jack Knight)

1. Alan Scott
2. Jay Garrick
3. Dr. Mid-Nite (Charles McNider)
4. Power Girl
5. Spectre (Jim Corrigan)

Sandman (Wesley Dodds)& Starman (Jack especially but Ted also) definitely deserve honorable mention on my list though.

My answers this week:

1.) Hawkman - Carter Hall is the comic character I relate to the most personally. He's got an amazing visual, at least three interesting character hooks, and lends himself to any genre of story. It's criminal his title wasn't a top seller.

2.) Dr. Fate I - Kent Nelson is the archtypical comic book sorceror, and the best of his ilk. He's also got the archaeological connection I love about Hawkman, the best visual of any male sorceror in comics, and, unlike most magicians, works well with others. I miss him.

3.) Hourman I - Rex is probably the best blue-collar scientific hero of the Golden Age. He adds a spirit and enjoyment of the role I'd never seen in Rick until the current run started. I'm glad he's back, and even gladder he's getting his chance at the quiet life now, at last.

4.) Mr. Terrific II - Michael Holt takes the archtype of the world's smartest man and turns it on its ear with his personal tragedies. He's probably the only really humble genius I've seen in comics. (As opposed to having low self-esteem issues like Hank Pym, or an ego like every other genius I can think of in the genre.) That makes him an intriguing addition to the team.

5.) Sand - I love the man out of time riff that Goyer instituted with him, his extreme power for a character of his general type (the masked detective), and, finally, his costume after years of hoping he'd end up in something like Wes Dodds' role. Glad to have him back!)
