Someone on the Superman board said he understood that to be the case.

Also, is Freddy now in a more "Marvel" type costume? (Is he actually wearing Billy's Capt. Marvel costume?)

From what I recall... Billy hasn't said what his name is, but has stated that Freddy will be named Shazam when he's done with the trials.

In the first issue Billy did say his name is now just Marvel.

As others have said, Billy now goes by "Marvel" and Freddy will, upon completion of his trials, be known as "Shazam" (which may mean he still won't be able to say his own name! \:\-D ).
As for the costumes. It appears that Freddy will be wearing what was Billy's costume once he's completed his trials. So far, upon completion of a trial, Freddy gets something that brings him closer to being "Shazam".
His first trial gave him the ability to walk without his crutch (and also, his wisdom), and his second trial gave him Capt. Marvel's tunic (and invincibility, iirc), and now his uncompleted third one has granted him the entire Captain Marvel costume (minus the cape) and his strength. And also, longer hair and no goatee, iirc. ;\-\)

I recall a while back that there was some disagreement between Marvel and DC over who had the legal rights to use the name "Captain Marvel", and I figure with Marvel resurrecting Mar-Vell, and calling him "Captain Marvel" they are trying to assert their position. But, I actually thought that Marvel & DC came to some agreement and both were able to legally use the title? Maybe there's something else going on?

Marvel owns the trademark to "Captain Marvel", that's why DC can't use those words on their covers or on the outside packaging of merchandise. When someone owns a trademark, you can't "trade" on their "mark" (make money on their ownership). DC owns the copyright to their Captain Marvel and can use the words "Captain Marvel" inside the comics.

From what I understand, Freddy now calls himself "Shazam" and now uses the magic word "Shazam". So just like when he was Captain Marvel Jr., he can't tell anyone what his name is without changing into his dual identity.
