Don't get me wrong, I love the covers for the JSA, but why are they like they are? Seems like they are trying to get each member alone on the cover. I think they are beautifully done and awesome to look at. The question I'm asking is: why are the covers like this?

thanks,
boham

And why aren't the Ross pictures the more expensive alternative?

The images can be sold on posters and t-shirts, as well as rpg or collectors cards (if there *is* a DCU rpg game). Maybe a deck of cards once you have 52 images. And you also have a good cover for any stand-alone tpb for the character in question. And for the JSA completist collector, they'll want to get one of each of the posters. Cha-ching for the producer.

It's the same idea that goes behind selling tpb's: you get paid more than once for something you paid once to produce.

It may be cynical, but that doesn't mean it's untrue.
