I'ne been reading jsa trades from the last renumbering(1999-2006, I think.)
I just finished volume 4-stealing thunder. I noticed that from the begining of 5 Rex Tyler is back in black and yellow, no robot thing. To my knowledge there was no explanation of this. I havn't continued on because i don't want to get to far ahead of myself cronologicly. Was this explained in another story and I missed it? if anyone can help me out with an answer or where I might look to for an answer, i would really appreciate it. thanks for your help guys and gals.

At least not in the JSA series. I don't know if it was part of a miniseries elsewhere, but I believe it was explained in Stealing Thunder that he got his "one-hour-in-the-future sight" from the android as well as the power to go see Rex in limbo.

However, I think that Rick was staying off the heroscape despite "recently" receiving these powers (although "recently" is relative when you're talking about a time-travelling android). However, when the Ultra-Humanite did the Thunderbolt boogie, it seems to make sense that some off-the-radar heroes would be the best candidates for J.J. to recruit for a rebellion.
