Maybe some left-over effect from the last crisis, where suddenly all JSA-members could remember their Superman and Batman.

That was a pic of the cover from DC Comics Presents #62. It happened on Earth-1 (pre-Crisis), but the Freedom Fighters were still from Earth-X. They were Earth-hoppers back then, going from Earth-2 to Earth-X to Earth-1 and then back to Earth-X

I am not sure what the offical explaination is but I do like the idea of heroes from any of the 52 earths in the multiverse crossing over so that could be why. I wonder what number Earth X is now...?? Maybe another idea is that there is only one Uncle Sam on all the worlds and he has complete memories of the Spirit of America.(on all dimensions?!) Just some food for thought.

Superman did travel back in time in "Time and Time Again" where he was around during WW2. He was there for several months. It is possible that there was an unknown adventure that wasn't chronicled where he met with Uncle Sam and fought side by side with him.

Earth X is now Earth 10. (X is the roman numeral for 10. And TPTB made Earth S into Earth 5 since S and 5 look similar.)

It's actually right there on the first page. Uncle Sam simply remembers the original Multiverse and the merger caused by the original Crisis.
