So much potential squandered and thrown away by the current shambles that Earth-2 was willingly steered into... It is a series that encapsulates the problems with DCs current line management and lack of editorial discipline.

Whatever the future of the JSA turns out to be it is duty bound to use the likes of Green Lantern and The Flash, but like you I feel Stargirl only really works withing the JSA context. Ideally I would like a return of the generational aspect with Courtney being the youngest and newest hero joining a team of established capable superheroes. Team books do tend to work on this basis anyway, going back to the Silver-Age we had the youthful Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch joining the Avengers and under the wing of Captain America, elsewhere Beast Boy was adopted by the Doom Patrol, later still Firestorm joined the JLA and gave it an extra vibrancy with his relative inexperience and newness to the profession. So Stargirl (and yes, Cyclone) would be sound choices if I had any say in the matter.

Maybe though the idea of just the JSA, a team of eight or maybe a dozen at most on active service, is the wrong way to go about establishing Earth-2. When James Robinson reinvented the concept it was always an unspoken assumption that his book would generate at least one more title, a springboard for reintroducing new versions of old characters. That never happened obviously, and yet I think if it had been pursued instead of the Evil-Superman/Worlds End catastrophe we would not be looking at the urgent need for yet another reboot to save the series...

Formed by Sylvester Pemberton from Earth 2, he decided that the biggest problem with his earth is that the Superhuman community was not a "Society."

He forms a superhero corporation, one dedicated to humanitarian efforts to help other Superhumans.

The members are:

Brainwave Jr. - Henry King from Earth 2 who decided that this world has to be better than the world he came from.

Jade - Jade Yifei, a teenager from Beijing, China, is the daughter of a National People's Congress official. Despite being blinded in an accident as a child, she goes on become a well known mountain climber. During an attack upon her family, she is chosen by a Green Lantern ring, which greatly enhances her hearing. This allows her to "see" via a set of special headphones, as well as granting her the ability to create energy constructs and changing her skin color to green.

Northwind - Norda Cantrell is part of a daemonite culture that had crash landed on earth centuries ago. They have similar abilities to the Hawkmen in that they can possess people and give them wings. Norda Cantrell is the latest in the line of hidden Feitherians, who ventured into the world and decided to fight against his own people who wanted to subjugate the continent of Africa.

Atom-Smasher is Albert Rothstien, a man given powers during the Darksied War when a combination of a nuclear bomb detonated by Israeli forces and the closing of a boom tube irradiated Albert and gave him the ability of the "Atomic Punch."

Obsidian is from Earth One who was trapped on Earth 2 for a while, until John Constantine showed him the way home. He searches for his half-sister, Jade.

Silver Scarab is another refugee from Earth 2...a Sandman agent that came across the Silver Scarab...an alien artifact that attached to his spine and gave him super strength, the ability to fire solar blasts, and invulnerability. He found his way to Earth One when his Scarab synched with a boom tube and shuffled him to Earth One.

Aresia is an Amazon that Hippolyta had taken into her household as her "ward." She was trained alongside Diana and was one of the women who nearly beat Diana to be the ambassador to the man's world. She came in second was given the special duty of being Hippolyta's agent in the Man's world...her "Fury" to exact vengence on those that would seek to destroy Themyrsica. Now that Hippolyta has been killed, she decides to become a hero in her own right as Aresia...if only to wash her conscience clean. She is attracted to the Silver Scarab.

Stargirl is Courtney Wittmore.

The New Power Girl

Dr. Beth Chapel: a Gulf War Vet and doctor that lost her eyesight when a frag grenade went off nearby. She takes the mysterious drug Miraclo that allows her to see in the dark.

Rick Tyler also takes the Miraclo Drug that was one of the secret formulas that Hector Hall had brought with him from Earth 2. Rick Tyler mass produces this drug and is trying to figure out how to extend the life of the drug beyond one hour. But until then, he goes out and fights crime as the Hourman.

Yolanda Montenez is the best MMA fighter in America, until she found out she can grow claws out of her hands and has cat-like agility. While retired from her fighting career, Yolanda now dons on a mask and took the name Wildcat (after her favorite team).
