Secret Empire 004

Very good cover. (Inside art was unsatisfying for my taste.)

1-3
My theory of Beard-Steve being his true essence trapped in his HYDRA psyche seems to be panning out. It's the opposite of living in a nightmare. Looks like dreamy Sam and Bucky of course.

4
"SINCE THE BEGINNING"?! Really? Don't read Punisher series but really doubt any reader knows how long ago Cap made a deal with Frank or have any past scenario satisfaction of it.

5-6
-Cap gives Black Widow as much props as he does the outer space banished or the black bubble imprisoned.
-Black Widow was nicely spot on (under the circumstances). Her torturing is... understandable but sadly as disturbing as when Cyclops was doing it during Secret Invasion (or was it Dark Reign?). Too bad she can't just recruit a telepath when she needs one - or Riri can't make up an app for it. Yes, that addendum is sarcasm! Now, she gets a genius upgrade to make a memory wipe app?! Sheesh. Sadly, these mere 2 pages are poor crossover hype/footnoting to Secret Empire Uprising #1.

7-8
-ULTRON CITY?! Cities, plural?! Both sides KNOW about it??! OH brother! Faaaar fetched proportionate to the length of time Pymtron's been on Earth.
-Well, it clearly is both teams prepping to storm city. But it's presented quite messy. And it was bad enough Tony A.I [TAI] needed to holowear a hoody last time, now he has to presumably wear his real metal armor but without helmet just to show his pretty face? Bah.

9
Okay, this is interesting teaser page of DeathlokPymtron motivation. (That is until you keep reading...)

10-17
Terrible big fight. Convenient equal numbers for your panel posing basic stalemate results. Well, Vizh beat Sam (who the 'heroes' lied to); Wanda beat Pietro; Ant-men tie(both TRY to bring some comedic relief); Mocky and Tasky tie (there's prooobably some Barbuda history/hatred in their one sentence each); Herc and Odinson clash (*koff*); HYDRACap and TAI tie (but THEY get extra panels to pose because they're Cap and IM!).

18
The forced Dinner of Exposition looks silly, to be sure, but a plus is seeing that a force outside HYDRA as a serious challenge to the stupid regime. We haven't really seen Atlantic, Wakanda, New Tian, or any other country properly stepping up yet. And awkward dinners are a comic book staple so this could work out. (That is until you keep reading...)

19
Wanda is possessed? News to us (storytime unsatisfying). Pymtron has been back for who knows how long and hasn't turned on a TV to recognize the newbies or changed status quos? News to us (UNcredible).

20
TAI is too drunk to drive??! News to us (why would Tony actually 'type his stereotype' into a program?). Steve managed to tame Chton???! News to us (storytime unsatisfying).

21-30
A rehash party. Ugh. What a bunch of babies. Only scott Lang is there to save the day. Really doubt any reader knows how long ago Cap made a deal with Pymtron or have any past scenario satisfaction of it. The takeaway: TAI's team scores a piece of the Cosmic Cube puzzle.

31-33
These three mere jibber jabber pages is prooobably crossover with what will happen in Cap's series issued next week. Prooobably THERE we get belated recap of Cap''s made deal with GuppyNamor. The takeaway: Cap's team scores a piece of the Cosmic Cube puzzle. Ooo! They tied it up!

34
The big cliffhanger: a new guessing game mystery for readers to carededuce who Cap planted as mole on Tony's team.

Your takeaway?
