I was on YouTube searching for the Black Panther reviews (I might go see it tonight.) and I came across some rather, interesting videos. I see that there are some people out there who aren't happy that Stan Lee had a cameo because he was WHITE? Seriously? Are people taking this a little bit too seriously? Also, I thought that Blade was the first Marvel superhero movie.

I don't think it is. As someone who cries SJW when a character I like gets replaced I don't feel like Black Panther pushes my SJW buttons.

It embraces Marvel's black characters and puts them to good use. They're not knockoffs of white characters or white comic characters turned black for the movie. It's not a black role whose dialogue seems written for a white guy. The characters were unapologetic about being black. It was a definitely a BLACK movie but you know...they should have one. I keep going to these Marvel movies and there are always tons of black people there putting their money down movie after movie because they love Marvel comics. I'm hoping they really enjoyed this one.

Plus Wakanda is such a great concept. An African country that wasn't carved up by Europeans that by having access to some space rock and you know not being plundered has built the world's greatest scientific community. And they're not portrayed as stereotypical thugs or saintly characters with no nuance. They have a weird Ayn Rand outlook where they're proud of what they built and don't want to share. They're a lot like our Republicans.

I thought it was quite a faithful representation of an original black character and his world. The themes explored within it - those of imperialism and isolationism - were also faithful.

Nothing SJW about it.
