One of the first few books they introduce is Cosmic Ghostrider?

I mean I get the character's appeal within in the context of the Thanos book, I guess. But of all the characters they could be writing about is this the correct one? It stinks like Gwenpool all over again. And god only knows how that last 25 issues.

It's a limited series. This is a quirky idea which is why it's best left as a limited series.

As long as it stays a limited series I have no problem.

Marvel has clearly run of ideas so they might as well just keep recycling storylines or giving us these awkward 2 character/genre mash ups like Cosmic Punisher and Gwenpool.

I eagerly await these illogical new titles:

AntHulk
Tomb of Aunt May (Aunt May is queen of the vampires)
Ultron and the Nightstalkers
Luke Cage herald of Galactus
The Immortal Ironpaw (Lockjaw is the new Iron Fist)
Amphibian by Night (Namor becomes a sea monster every full moon)
Black Panther Sorcerer Supreme (he would look dope with a cape though)
Captain America & Alpha Flight (Cap doesn't like Trump so he moves to Canada)
Ka-Zar in the Wild West
Conan the Barbarian 2099
Venom Rider Wolverine (the younger version from the past of a clone of a nephew of an alternate reality Wolverine robot that got infected with a symbiote after he became the Ghost Rider...duh)

Yup. And yet this cosmic GR gets the solo mini.

As I was reading that, I stopped and asked myself if it was April Fool's Day. Nope, not April Fool's Day.

Needs a symbiote. And Terrigen Mist.

Although...

The Punisher is a human spirit of vengeance. "What If Frank Castle Was Cursed with the Spirit of Vengeance?" - Yeah, that seems like a natural story to tell, albeit a bit obvious. It's sort of like putting Frank in the War Machine armor. Or combining Hulk and Wolverine into one character. (Hulk and Wolverine are made for each other. It was no coincidence that Wolverine made his debut in the Hulk's magazine. They're both berserkers.) But Frank as a herald of Galactus? The Spirit of Vengeance possessing a herald of Galactus? That's crazy talk. That's not chocolate and peanut butter. That's chocolate and... and... ketchup. Or if that sounds good to you, then mustard. Still sounds good? Mayonnaise. Still? What kind of a crazy person are you?

There's defaulting of the characters.

Ya, but it's still kind of the point of it.

Cosmic Ghost Rider is the successor of these absurd ideas and the new twist is to add a cosmic layer & a time-displacement into the mess ...

The old is new again ...

It is set up that Frank just really wants to punish Thanos, so he makes the first two deals. It makes a certain amount of sense in context. Also, Galactus really needed aid.

Of course, it makes the deal with Thanos a little weird.

While I have been enjoying Thanos for the most part, and the history of Frank Castle in this future was interesting, I find the Punisher of this reality annoying.

He comes off, at least to me, as a bit too inspired by Deadpool.

I will say, as someone who with a few rare exceptions, only likes Punisher as a counterbalance to protagonists (Spidey, Daredevil, Cap) I like that they showed how useless he is in a lot of situations the MArvel universe finds it in.

God knows it will comfort me the next time I read Punisher lecturing another hero about something with his self-important speeches

I just hope the Silver Surfer in this series washes the bad taste left in it by Slott's run.
