Marvel Comics Presents 003

Cap story: Guess we should just give up that this title is canon. Last issue with the time stamp around the Reed Richards origin https://www.comicboards.com/php/show.php?msg=fantasticfour-2019030602303105 and now this issue specifically places Cap in a 1964 setting (and "Tony" Stark by inferrence). RIDICULOUS. Arrgh! You can't have it both ways: a sliding timescale and retro-flashback adventures set in the iconic Bronze Age 1960s! Marvel is obviously misleading uninformed readers as it does on occasion to promote sales for as long as the temporal illogic turns dead-breaker for potential patrons. Sad, waste of an otherwise uplifting story about fighting for civil rights.

Wolverine story: Y'think he would've had some contingency or superpeer help he could signal. "Fool me once" and all that. Of course, that also depends on exactly who he knows at this point in time. He got lucky agains The Truth demon in '42, '52, and now it '62. Oh yeah, this tale is set in 1962! And all the implied canon inconsistencies that apply. Arrgh! Mainly, how long is this before or after the events in IH#181? Sylvie seems as magically competant as almost any B-List Handbook mystic - but arguably much more morally challenged. She seduces Logan to trick him into impregnating her to produce a backup savior.

Spidey story: Revisiting Crusher. Amazing Spider-man #271 is a fondly remembered revisiting of the iconic throwaway character Hogan. [According to his wikia page he's had 23/13 other appearances https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Joseph_Hogan_(Earth-616) - but has any of them been more entertaining? AND when the heck was his real name Joseph given?] So, it actually started out arrghworthy, with his hate-fueled personality, but it turned into a clever twist revealed when Doc Voodoo shows up to explain the sitch. Whew. BUT. THEN. Arrgh! It looks like they made Dr.Druid a supervillain and gave him an Revolving Door unexplained return from his troubled and odd post-death villainy on Weirdworld. Poor Avenger.
