I usually despise the X-Men and all their related titles but I liked X-Men 2099. It seemed to be the X-Book least like the others. It lacked all the things I usually hate about an x-book (the characters). No Wolverine. No Phoenix. No clones who sleep with demons with babies who get alien viruses who get dumped in the future to be raised by a coven of cyberwitches and then get cloned themselves and end up raising the reincarnated version of their dead clone mother's genetic template. No body swapping with women of different ethnicities. No alternate reality offspring whining for attention because some other iteration of their parent didn't love them enough. Just an x-title unburdened by decades of annoying continuity.

The X-Men 2099 weren't cool or edgy. They were kinda square. That's why I liked them.

I liked it for about 12 issues.

I enjoyed the series and still think of it fondly.
Even with the poorly written issues towards the end of the run.
