Is everyone aware of the namesakes for our friendly mascots Calvin & Hobbes?

John Calvin was a leader of the Reformation on a par with Martin Luther:

Thomas Hobbes, who was born 14 years after Calvin died, was one of the fathers of modern political philosophy, along with John Locke (his contemporary, though Hobbes was 44 when Locke was born) and Jean-Jacques Rousseau (born 33 years after Hobbes died) - being remembered most prominently as the author of Leviathan:
