Scarlet Spiders #2 (of 3):

Across the multiverse, Spider-Man's DNA has been cloned time and again. Now, as the Spiders from every dimension have come together in a war for their own survival, three of those clones have joined forces to embark on a dangerous mission.

A family called "THE INHERITORS" has been hunting spiders across the multiverse. In the midst of one of their battles, three clones Spiders -- SCARLET SPIDER, BEN REILLY, and ULTIMATE BLACK WIDOW -- realized that the Inheritors so-called "immortality" must come from cloning technology.

When defeated, each Inheritor's consciousness is received by a newly-created body, waiting for them somewhere in the multiverse. Together, the Scarlet Spiders traced the signals to an Inheritor-controlled world and learned that a dangerously intelligent and sadistic Inheritor, JENNIX, rules it as his domain.

After locating the source of the Inheritor clones, the Scarlet Spiders made another troubling discovery-their friends and allies are also on Jennix's earth, all of them affected by his twisted worldview. The latest the Scarlet Spiders have encountered is JOHNNY STORM, Jennix's head of security.

This world's Johnny Storm comments on "Iron Man"'s bringing in of "Peter Parker/Spidey" (a maskless SS2 again), wondering why he wasn't notified about it. Narrator(???): "His name is Kaine. And he's learned that people's impressions of him are usually wrong. He is not Peter Parker. Peter Parker had a life. "Iron Man" says it's his problem, and he's still taking "Spidey" to Jennix. Storm get verbally suspicious, followed by SS2 breaking from his mechanical bonds, removing his pants and shoes (with his full costume on), sticks his back against a nearby support beam, and making his SS costume invisible. Kaine never had one of those. Peter Parker is a hero." Johnny starts to flame on, but SS2 kicks him in the face at the same time. Both Spiders then work together to bring him down. SS2 (costume visible again) says BRSM needs to remove the Iron Man suit, followed by more guards showing up. While BRSM removes his armor, SS2 goes invisible again and takes out some of the guards. The rest flee. BRSM comments on their cover being blown, and they take off up what looks like a nearby elevator shaft. SS2 comments on how Ultimate Black Widow was supposed supposed to be the one drawing attention, and BRSM replies that she's doing her job, then sends a communication over to her. She (inside some kind of tunnel area) asks how they are, and BRSM says SS2 took about a bunch of guards, so now THEY'RE running interference for HER. UBW has a wrist device she looks at, and then says they're after them now, not her. BRSM asks if she can monitor the security system to help them out, with him also opening an elevator door to some upper level. UBW radios that the guards are gathering on level Three of E Wing. BRSM says they don't know where they are, and SS2 says there's a skylight. One of them comments SHE's supposed to let them know where they are, and she replies that she's using a wrist-device terminal she took from a guard, and if they don't know where the they are, she doesn't. They ask her where Jennix keeps his clone bodies, and she says her first guess would be the central shaft of the building that's tiered lab space and draws the majority of the power. She adds there are entryways on every other floor, but she don't know how they'll get in. They already know she's in the system and they're trying to shut her out. She definately can't open the door. Both Spiders then enounter one of the scientists at the nearest entryway to the lab shaft, telling him to let them in. All three walk into a large lab shaft, with capsules containing TONS clone-bodies littered all around the sides. BRSM comments there have to be around 1000 clone-capsules, which the scientist concurs that's a close approximation, and also explains that each tier if for a different Inheritor. BRSM concludes that they have to find a way to bloodlessly dismantle the fortress.

Elsewhere, this dimension's Dr. Warren arrives before Jennix in his chair, explaining there's a problem only he can solve. Jennix asks what that is, and he replies it could be TWO problems, but maybe just one: The security teams are being beat up and their security cameras aren't catching anything. Jennix asks him why he thinks that is, and Warren says perhaps because whoever broke in is invisible. Or is REALLY FAST. Jennix compliments him on his acumen, then asks him why he thinks he keeps him around. He says for his acumen, but Jennix says that's close. He says he keeps him around because he was once the most brilliant mind on the planet. Dr. Warren says he doesn't remember that, and Jennix replies that sometimes he does, and those days are the best days. He finishes, saying he has to attend to his family at the moment, and let the invaders get into fights with security; let them THINK then can HURT HIM. If they can make it all the way to special projects, he'll have a talk with them PERSONALLY.

Back with the clones: UBW is crawling up another tunnel area. She tells the other two, via radio, that the clone bodies are just empty husks that dying Inheritors download their consciousnesses into. BRSM talks on how they're kept alive and fresh, and there has to be a way to cut the power here so they just die on the VINE. UBW says the main power cells are on the east side of the building, but getting will be hard, adding the problem is she's been locked out of the system, so is trying to find a communications array. But until then, if the other two are picked up by surveillance, she can't control the counter-measures. SS2 says he'll take care of it, and uses his invisiblity mode to take out a bunch of nearby guards and large, controled weaponry. Narrator(???): "Sometimes he wears the suit at night, when he sleeps. Sometimes not even in his apartment. On rooftops or towers. Once on Hirsch Road, over the Buffalo Bayou. Invisible to the lights of the city that faintly paint the heavy air. When he looks down he can't see his hands, or the rest of his body. In those moments, he isn't there at all. The anger is always there, of course. Either bright and blooming or cold and coiled. Then in battled, pulled into focus so sharp, it's the needle that takes the air out of the world. Kaine is a Spider, and his life is stillness and blinding violence. It's not MUCH of a life. But it's what he's been able to make with the material he has." He then reaches back to BRSM in the clone-room (who's juggling two baseball-sized webballs), saying he needs him. He responds that the power is still on, and SS2 says the hallway is clear and the surveillance is out, but he really still needs to see something, bringing along the now-wrist-webbed scientist. He asks what they need HIM for, and SS2 asks if he's a scientist, and worked on the clones. He replies he's just a technician, and his job is to indentify any possible mutations in the code. SS2 then pushes him in front of himself and BRSM, who then lets them into a room with glass cube tanks with purple liquid inside. SS2 tells him to identify what all this is, and we see: hideous human/spider hybrids in the tanks. Narrator(???): "There is a yellowed paperback in the mostly empty place where Kaine beds down. On a dog-eared page is a poem Kaine found, and marked, and returns to. 'Death Itself,' by V.B. Price. He doesn't know if it's a GOOD poem. He doesn't entirely understand it. But he hears echoes in it. He senses a SHAPE. The shape of a ruined face. Kaine Parker. Poor copy of a better man. The scientist says these must be the failures, part of the "Special Projects" room, which has stayed closed always, which he'd only heard rumors about. BRSM bends down, almost throwing up. SS2 gets angry, and punches through the glass of one of the tanks, with the subject and purple liquid spilling on the floor. Narrator(???): "Red shadow of rage. The Death Self." BRSM tells him to stop, then Jennix's face appears in hologram before the three. He says these in the tanks are monuments to his failures, but failures can be as important as SUCCESSES. He adds that his siblings can't resist hunting and gorging on their quarry immediately, but it isn't until sentient beings learn to farm, to raise lifestock that they are truly civilized. He adds he's captured DOZENS of Spiders throughout the long years, most since he pressed this world into it's "proper shape" and made it his home; yet, he can't clone them. Their bodies and minds, perhaps, but their essencees they need to feed on, no. He was nearly resigned to stay uncivilized forever, but now, two Spiders have come into his parlor, and by guess, cloned ones, with many secrets to tease out. BRSM, jokingly, says of himself being something of a tease, but his friend (SS2, who turns invisible) here is real direct. Jennix says he sees that, and SS2 even though he's invisible, as this dimension's Susan Storm is in another tank elsewhere, so invisibility is nothing to him. SS2 calls him a coward, hiding in his hole, and that they'll tear his house down around his ears. Jennix is now somehow in that room, standing behind the scientist, saying if that's how they're going to be about it, and breaks the scientist's neck, calling him another dissapointment. He then says to the two Spiders that he's certain they will prove MUCH more interesting.

Comments: Not bad! Really looking forward to the next-issue finale. I have to admit that SV is a good storyline. Not the greatest, but not horrible either. I hope we get a major victory by the end of #3.

Spider-Verse #2 (of 2)

The insatiable Inheritors have been rampaging across the multiverse ravenously feasting upon the essence of Spiders. Spider-Men, Women, and Children have been joining forces to stand against these hungry hunters who threaten to wipe out EVERY SPIDER-MAN EVER!

It's Showtime!

Anasi: A Spider In Sheep's Clothing

With Great Power Comes No Future

El Espiritu De Las Calles

It's The Little Things

Story #1:
Spider-Man Vs. Morlun in "It's Showtime!":
Earth-30847: We see Morlun taking on the Spidey from the Marvel Capcom fighter games, set in some rocky mountainous stage. He uses three of his moves (WEB-BALL! SPIDER-STING! MAXIMUM SPIDER!), all having no effect. Morlun then punches him in the face, saying, "INHERITOR FIST!" and he falls to the ground, with the world "PERFECT!" coming up, followed by an arcade gamer playing the game, wondering what just happened.

Story #2:
Anasi: A Spider In Sheep's Clothing:
Some weird story about some native Spidey called Anasi that Spider-UK manages to find and recruit by the end, but not before having to do some weird stuff that doesn't make too much sense.

Story #3:
The Anarchic Spider-Man:
This is meant as the backstory to Spider-Punk (aka Hobie Brown), and his corrupt dimension where there's a President Osborn, who oppresses the little guy, mainly with this V.E.N.O.M. (Variable Engagement Neuro-sensitive Organic Mesh) stuff he and his corrupt police force wear, and this Spider leads a Spider-Army against the corruption. Some kind of punk-rock-like rebellious to the status quo-type Spidey. Kinda reminds me of both Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns saga, and 2099 somewhat.

Story #4:
A story about a Hispanic-Spidey, but as it's all in Spanish (which I don't know), I can't totally make out what the story is. I doubt it'll mean much to the SV stuff as he isn't recruited here at all.

Story #5:
Earth-001: Loomworld, the final battle between the Inheritors and the Spider-Army:
A large battle is shown between the Inheritors and the surviving Spiders. Verna: "You disgusting creatures! How DARE you lay your hands upon me!" Spidey (I think): "So THAT'S how it is, huh? Lady, you guys started this, we're just here to END IT!" Visually runs out of webfluid: "Of all the time to run outta web-fluid!" Nearby Spidey in black costume: "Dang it! Same over here!" MMUSM (turning to them): "Find some cover and reload. We got this. Wave three! Bring it in!" Both of the first-talking Spideys get behind a wall, sit and talk as they reload their webbing-wrist-devices. Spidey(???): "Web-cartridges, huh? So I take it that's just your black costume then...and NOT the symbiote?" Black-clad Spidey: "Yeah. Hey, how'd you know about my symbiote?" Spidey(???): "Had one for a while, too. Picked it up during--" BCSM: "--the Secret Wars?" Spidey(???): "Man, small multiverse, huh? So you're a Peter Parker too?" BCSM: "Yeah. Well, THE Peter Parker, sure. Hmm. Guess we ALL think we're THE Peter Parker." Spidey(???): "Nah, I met a guy named Komori, who's a Spidey from Japan." BCSM: "Weird. There's like four or five Japanese Spider-Men. Why is that?" Spidey(???): "Why not?" BCSM: "Oh, God. Hope I'm not racist Spider-Man." Spidey(???): "Hey, you know what's REALLY weird...one Spider-Man would NOT stop singing show tunes." BCSM: "Yeah? I ran into one who kept trying to teach me english." Spidey(???): "All right, one of 'em was unmasked, and I swear he looked just like the guy from Seabiscuit." BCSM: "Really? I think I saw the guy from the Social Network over there." Spidey(???): "Ooh. He was good!" BCSM: "C'mon. I'm done. You ready?" Spidey(???): "Yeah, but wait--how are WE different?" Both start getting back up. BCSM: "Aunt May? Uncle Ben? Spider-bite? Midtown High? ESU? Daily Bugle?" Spidey(???): "Check. Check. Check." BCSM: "Harry Osborn?" Spidey(???): "Best friend." BCSM: "His Dad." Spidey(???): "Green Goblin." BCSM: "We should go help the others. Guess we'll never know now, huh?" Spidey(???): "Yeah, but I wouldn't worry..." Both then get in front of the charging Spiders. Spidey(???): "...probably just one of the little things. C'mon, Pete!" BCSM: "After you, Mr. Parker." In the crowd we see new faces, such as the Spidey doppelganger from Infinity War and Maximum Carnage and Ben Reilly/Scarlet Spider (who was also in the first panel of this story). Also shown, under BCSM's left webshooting hand is S-Man, and a guy behind him who I'm guessing is some unmasked Spidey with glasses who just looks somewhat like Miguel O'Hara. No way it is, I just thought I'd mention it anyway.

Comments: Aside from stories 2 and 4, I liked this issue. Didn't think they'd reach Capcom fighter Spidey. Hope he didn't die, or can come back. Also didn't think they'd show a story from the end of the SV saga like this so soon.

A whole bunch of new stuff is coming out tomorrow. I'll review them as soon as I can.

Question I looked up on google: Will Ash Vs. Evil Dead be continued as a cartoon?

"In an interview with Collider during San Diego Comic-Con, genre entertainment icon Bruce Campbell confirmed that the powers that be are in conversation to continue his character's demon-busting adventures in a new animated series version of Ash vs. Evil Dead. 'You can do the future a lot easier in animation.'"
