What are some underrated comics of the 80's and 90's?

What series was really great during this period, but didn't get the attention/credit it deserved?

And please post them if you have any suggestions for future "topics of the week"

One immediately pops to mind for me, and that's Blue Devil! I loved that book, and it ran for 31 issues, yet nowadays it's like it never happened. If I post a picture of the guy, I have to tell people who he is.

Blue Devil was the one on a banner a couple weeks ago, right? Yeah I've never heard of him.

I'll have to try and remember the name the next time I'm at a comic shop and try and track down some issues.

What was the character's personality? Powers? Origin?

I'm with America's Captain. Blue Devil was quite a fun book. A refreshing change from the 'grim and gritty' books of that era.

Yeah, I enjoyed that book too.

Did you read Shadowpact? He was a regular there, although that book didn't last too long either.

I only read a few of his comics (mostly COIE crossovers), but I wish DC would give him a Showcase volume. \:\)

Maybe one day you'll find them in the 50 cent bin at some comics shop. I have to think you'd enjoy the book, Gernot. It was always trying its best to be fun.

The 80s were a good time for independents. A lot of them were being published in color, which made them more appealing to me.

If you want underrated, I would say Steve Gallacci's ALBEDO ANTHOPOMORPHICS. A brilliant hard-SF comic which unfortunately got lost in the glut of poor-quality b&w 'furry' comics at the time. The creator also had some personal issues going on at the time, and has recently stated he has no intention of going back to the series, which is a pity as it ended amidst an enthralling storyline.
