Sad day. Few people were more important to the grunge movement.

I was really shocked. I figured he was the guy in grunge who sort of survived and made the whole professional musician thing work. Eddie Veder seemed to disappear (or I haven't caught up on what he's doing) and Kurt Cobain and Layne Staley burned out young. But Cornell survied...he had a solo career and Audioslave after the end of Soundgarden. He was the one that was still thriving.

Now I'm depressed. I hate being envious of the guy who felt he had it so bad he killed himself.

I saw a news report that said he took too many adivan and that doing so can lead to suicidal thoughts. I am thinking these depression pills might be more dangerous than the depression people start taking them for. Like you said he was a survivor until he took pills to "help" him.

I was never a huge fan, at least not as much as for Pearl Jam or Nirvana, or even Alice In Chains, but I can't deny his importance to the scene. It is a shame. Rest in piece.
