The original show, which I watched a lot of as a kid in the 80's, ended its run with Alf getting captured by the "Alien Task Force." This direct-to-video movie has a general, played by Martin Sheen, who wants to kill the captured Alf, as he can't help thinking that Alf is dangerous, while these 2 male/female officers want to save Alf from him. I won't get any more into it than that, as to not reveal any more spoilers.

Overall, I felt it was okay and kinda funny. Not the greatest movie, but good for Alf fans who like him and want a final story for the character (like me).

Anyone else seen this before?

If I remember correctly the actor who played the dad on Alf had a habit of smoking crack and having sex with male prostitutes even though he was married with children.

This wasn't direct to video, I remember watching it on network TV. Looks like it was shown on ABC.

I guess I was disappointed that none of the Tanners were on. And maybe they wouldn't fit with the military story there were telling, but it would have worked better to work them in somehow.

I just assumed it was direct-to-video. Why was it not on NBC, as the cartoon and sitcom were?

It was said that the Tanners were relocated to Iceland, I think, as part of "witness protection" for them (according to Colonel Milfoil) around the start. Would have preferred them actually in the story, and Alf reunited with the Tanners. It's possible that happened, or Alf and the Tanners later lived together again at the military base, somehow.
