Subj: Happy St. Patrick's Day! Remember the 1998 Good Friday Agreement? BANNER! Posted: Sun Mar 17, 2019 at 09:33:05 am CDT (Viewed 321 times) | ||||
1998 was a great year for peace. http://education.niassembly.gov.uk/post_16/snapshots_of_devolution/gfa Do you remember those historic days? I was so excited! I had been to Ireland some years before and had seen what Northern Ireland looked like. Much of it had the look of a war zone. I was able to visit as a tourist but I always felt a little afraid. Nevertheless, despite the worry, I went, and was glad I did. The 1998 Good Friday Agreement felt personal to me. St. Patrick's Day makes me think of Ireland, my beloved place to visit. I've been there twice, once in the 90s, once in the 21st century. Northern Ireland the second time was completely different. Not at all like a war zone. It seemed like a normal place to be. Peaceful and lovely. The beauty of Ireland is like a benediction. Have a happy! EDIT: I've attached our Saint Patrick's Day banner to this post, as I'll be replacing it shortly.
