Thanks for everyone who participated in the survey. We got 50 respondants, and though we don't have a scientific sample size, I don't think that is an insignificant number (and it makes it real easy to calculate percentages, too). At first glance, it's surprising how even the age distribution is, at least from ages 20-40. Here's the percentage: 15-20: 2 (4%) 20-25: 11 (22%) 26-30: 12 (24%) 31-35: 12 (24%) 36-40: 8 (16%) 41-45: 5 (10%) When did people first start buying comics? I was surprised to see that the majority started buying before the marriage. However, the explanation for this is easy to see: there is a stunningly low number of new readers since 1998: pre-1970: 1 (2%) 1971-75: 3 (6%) 1976-80: 12 (24%) 1981-86: 12 (24%) 1987-92: 11 (22%) 1993-98: 10 (20%) post-1998: 1 (2%) Where did people buy their first comic? Seemingly anywhere but a comic store: convenience store/gas station: 12 (24%) candy/corner/drug store: 10 (20%) newsagent/newsstand: 10 (20%) grocery store: 7 (14%) flea market/pantry/army surplus store: 4 (8%) comic store: 4 (8%) do not remember: 2 (4%) train station: 1 (2%) I look forward to reading your interpretation of this data. | |||||||
