The biggest ongoing blunder and short-sightedness of the Quesada regime has been the tendency to mock fan reaction and, in some cases, the fans themselves. This seemed like obvious foolishness to me from the moment it began a handful of years back, but it has grown increasingly more blatant. I am sorry to see Tom B. falling into this over the past several months. It isn't cool to intentionally or even carelessly antagonize your customers, whether it is a minority or a great number of them. Bad business at the very least.

I think we have been lucky to have that illusion of being a part of the creative process since the beggining.

I agree 100%. The reason that had always been so is because it makes readers feel more connected , and therefore invested, in the stories.

Everything from fans' responses to the absurd lateness of books to stories that receive negative feedback. Quesada and his gang have been setting the Marvel company up with soundbytes that come across like cheap wrestling promos and responses for some time now.

Right. I was just wondering what about those videos set you off? I thought they were fairly harmless.

In and of themselves, they are harmless. Had they remained a private in-house gag, that's one thing, but tossing them out to an already alienated audience aint bright.

The video didn't set me off, it simply was another indicator of how poorly run Marvel's PR is. You have to wonder how much, if any, supervision and guidelines there are for this. My guess is, not much.

Wow, I don't get where you're coming from on this at all. *Shrug* I think it's cool they filmed a little of the braintrust summit to show us what goes on behind the curtain, and even hinted a little at what might be coming up. I didn't see anything in there even remotely offensive or upsetting.

I think you make an apt comparison with wrestling. I also detect a Howard Stern influence.

I guess I can understand why a company run by artistic/creative types would struggle with business sense. It's a shame though, because Marvel became successful in the first place because it was run by a guy who was both a creative and business/P.R. genius.
