Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced the July 28th release of The Spectacular Spider-Man - The Complete 1st Season, coming on 2 DVDs for $25.95 SRP. This collects all of the content previously released on single-disc titles, and adds two "all-new behind the scenes Spidey features". Running time is 299 minutes, with anamorphic widescreen video, English 5.1 audio (and a French 2.0 option), English subtitles and closed captioning for the hearing impaired. The new featurettes are titled "Spider-man: Re-Animated" and "Stylizing Spidey".

Agreed. This is the best current incarnation of Spidey out there.

I live in Arizona, and the show is not even aired in repeats here.

It's aired outside the US but I don't think its been shown on TV here yet.

I have a 4 year old son and enjoyed sharing season 1 of the Spectacular Spider-Man with him (not much brought more joy than sharing one of my very favorite characters with my young son and watching his eyes light with joy (and mine with tears) as he too became a fan. Anyway...

The show started on CW Kids last season. I'm not sure why, but they lost the rights for Season 2. Disney has the rights and airs Spidey on their Disney XD channel. What they've done is starting about 2 months ago, they started airing the show - Season 1 first. They air a new episode a week with the ultimate goal (I believe) is to start airing season 2 by late summer.

If you haven't seen any of the show, and you own a DVR, set it for Disney XD and within about a week, you'll catch all of the episodes (they air them a TON). I have to delete episodes daily because I keep catching ones we already have.

The entire season 2 has already aired in Canada, so if you need spoiler alerts, you could probably call Department H.

I hope this helps... I know Cox Communications has Disney XD in both Standard and High-definitions, but I can't speak to any other cable providers.

CW Kids no longer exists. Disney XD picked up Spectacular Spider-man because otherwise it was gone. Right now XD is around the Sinister Six episode. Season 2 will probably start up in June.
