Because so far Axis: Carnage is looking to become a rip off of Incorruptible.

Quote: He is writing for them now, isn't he? ![]() Well, the idea of the story is that, due to events that took place in a battle with a combination of the Red Skull and Onslaught (don't ask me; I haven't read it), characters' basic natures have been reversed. So heroes like the Avengers and the X-Men are becoming villains at heart, whereas monsters like Carnage (who was there for some reason--again, haven't read it) have acquired morality and an inclination toward heroism. So the fact that Carnage is the last character likely to reform is largely the point. -Comp My first novel, The Listeners, is in bookstores now! Check it out at www.harrisondemchick.com!

Subject: A brief explanation of why Hobgoblin and Carnage are heroes now (and why Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor are villains) [Re: Comp] Posted Mon Nov 24, 2014 at 12:47:31 am EST (Viewed 6 times) |

Red Skull stole Xavier's corpse and grafted Xavier's brain tissue onto his own, thus gaining his psychic powers. The Uncanny Avengers and X-Men teamed up to fight Red Skull, and Magneto killed him, but the release of psychic energy created a new Onslaught, this one being a combination of Xavier and Red Skull's psyches rather than Xavier and Magneto's. During the Axis crossover, the new Onslaught brainwashed a bunch of major superheroes, which is how they became inverted. He then captured most of the other major heroes using adamantium Sentinels built by the mind-controlled Tony Stark. In order to fight Onslaught, Magneto put together a team of really random villains, including Hobgoblin and Carnage. (Personally, I thought they were weird choices, especially since Carnage does NOT work well with others, but whatever.) At the end of the battle, Scarlet Witch used her probability-altering powers to reverse the polarity of Onslaught's psyche, flipping the dominant Red Skull persona with the dormant Xavier persona, and somehow this ability affected the other villains too, causing them to become inverted as well, making them heroic. Meanwhile, the inverted heroes were released from Onslaught's mind control, but they remained villainous while gaining the freedom to pursue their own agendas instead of Red Skull's.
