I'm anxious to check this series out, but I think that I remember the author saying that none of these characters are redeemable. I don't really see Boomerang as being all that irredeemable. He's a killer for hire (Or was, in the past. I don't know what's really changed.), and they're usually pretty easy to change or reform (Or at least retire.). Mostly, he seems to just get treated like a chump. I think that he can make for a bigger and more threatening Spider-Man villain than he's been. I don't see him as being all that evil or hardened though. BUT, I do think that it would be interesting to really get a look into his past. His origin just states that he used to be a famous baseball player, and that's rather vague. When was it explained that he took bribes and the like? I think that came from the Handbooks, not the actual comics themselves.

I'd question the extent to which any of Superior Foes was in continuity, because Nick Spencer's characterization is rarely consistent with previous depictions of any of the villains involved. But the book has become reasonably entertaining during its run.

The story is in continuity but the last pages of the book explain everything (it is the simplest explanation )

I already read the book, but I don't recall anything like that. What do you mean?

Well, I will spoil it, then : the whole storyline has been told from the point of view of a drunk Boomerang in a bar, speaking with Peter (Parker).
Sometimes, he lied, sometimes, he didn't.
That's why we don't know what really happened.
We don't know if it really happened or not (Shocker & his Shocker-mobile, the head of Silvermane, Doctor Doom and the painting ...) or if it happened like this.
Everything is in continuity but it is only the point of view of Boomerang, that's how he perceives Shocker & the other Sinister.
So, everything's fine.

Boomerang outright said that he made half of it up.
