We open on industry icon Sonny Diperna being rescued from the set as it's torn apart by the Savage Six, Mysterio tells MJ to get the production crew (joined by Diperna), to safety while he distracts the Six. He conjures up an illusion and tricks them into thinking they're out in the desert, and they wind up at the Joshua Tree National Park being filmed by onlookers. Vulture is pissed.
At their new location, a disused Zoo, Beck tells MJ the attack scared off a lot of his production crew, so he's recruited new talent...Screwball (production manager), Herbie 1.5 (sound mixer) and Master Matrix (director of photography). MJ asks Beck to cut the romance scene with her character, Beck decides to make MJ a producer on the film.
Days later, Screwball tells MJ they're short on food and the delivery man had an unmarked truck, so MJ calls Peter and arranges for Cloak and Dagger to teleport in with food. Cloak recognises Diperna.
Charlie, the actor who plays Spider-Man, ultimately gets spooked by all the on-set calamities and quits.
This was fun, with art that continues to exceed the usual standards for the regular Spider-Man book whenever Ottley and Gleason aren't on call, although there are a few pages where the artist seems to switch and the quality does diminish somewhat.
Calling up Peter and telling him to send Cloak and Dagger over to the studio with fast food was a great idea...why do they need to stick Teresa Parker into Peter's cameo though? I wonder if Peter's call took place while he and Teresa were tracking down Chameleon? Would have been nice to have this scene also play out in ASM last issue, MJ hasn't even been mentioned in that book since she left.
The constant "days later" time skips were also annoying.
