Subj: Amazing Spider-Man#44: Into Your Web I Will Silently Creep...
Posted: Thu Jul 16, 2020 at 01:16:31 pm EDT (Viewed 200 times)

In his apartment, Peter finds it a struggle to sleep...we suddenly find him in the back of Overdrive's car, with Overdrive telling him he's on the run from The Sin Eater, who has disposed of his partners by turning into a feral demon. Sin Eater is chasing after Overdrive and causes him to crash, Sin Eater aims his gun at the occupants of the crashed car and fires.

...And then Peter wakes up. Peter scrambles to the phone and calls MJ, telling him life as Peter gets harder without her there and that he needs her, she is the only reason he ever takes his mask off. He brings out the engagement ring and tells her there's something they need to discuss when she gets home...suddenly, Peter throws up and his chest rips open. Kindred appears again, saying you are meant to feel cold as you die, but that's not how he remembers it, his situation was much more unique. He says Peter should worry less about who he is and focus more on what he wants from him.

Kindred tells Peter he has something sinister waiting for him in the real world, and to stop it he'll have to do exactly as he says...he apologises for the dream-within-a-dream...but then...it wasn't meant to be his. The last page is of Julia Carpenter, Madame Web, surrounded by Miles, Anya, Jessica Drew, Cindy, and Ghost Spider

My thoughts

And we're back once more...and we learn absolutely nothing new in all this time about Kindred, who remains a two year enigma. We do of course get to see more Peter pour his heart out to MJ and are reminded of just how vital she is to him, something Marvel ignored for a decade, but here Spencer reminds us of their deep connection mixed in with callbacks to the fan favourite story from Matt Fraction 'To Have and to Hold'.

The return of the engagement ring more or less confirms it's previous appearance wasn't just a one-and-done nod to a much missed era, and that whatever is coming will be closure and resolution to One More Day down the road.

I was initially confused by the inception style twist and the apperance of Julia Carpenter, I thought it was a zombified MJ! Also, is Julia having the vision, or are all of the web warriors? It's not made entirely clear.

Not very impressed with the art either
