Subj: The Spider-Girl Feeling

Spider-Girl was something very special to me. A teenage girl struggling with great power and great responsibility against all odds, great stories, great art, teenage angst and fun…
When the book was cancelled this left a big hole in my reading habits. In some way Simone’s Batgirl could fill this hole, but it was definitely much darker in tone. Against evidence neither Burnside Batgirl nor Kamala Ms. Marvel or Spider-Gwen did much for me in that aspect.
And now I might have found my substitute medication. In “Switch†at Image Stjepan Sejic gives Witchblade the “Ultimate Spider-Man†treatment. It is a retelling with a new bearer of the Blade. Young Mary Parker (coincidence?) struggles with new found power and is very busy protecting her family. Teenage angst, fun, great story, great art. 3 issues are out. Try it out, it’s worth it.
