I won’t post any spoilers, but I think there are going to be some pretty pissed off people.

This is obviously a temporary power-up but it is nice to see Thor get some fan service. It's no different when the Hulk or Superman go on a huge power trip and start smashing everybody. The ones who will really get pissed off are those who were secure in their opinions and comic showings that certain characters were more powerful than Thor and this upsets the apple cart. Who cares, they were never Thor fans to begin with and their opinions on him are really irrelevant.

As you said, they’ll say otherwise but still defend their own characters high showings. When I said pissed off I didn’t necessarily mean Thor fans ![]()

Yup I just read it, I'm sure there will be those who will disagree with this showing and try to start an argument and we all know who those posters are. For me personally I don't bother to respond, I'm not here to get into arguments or try and change someones opinion, I could care less.

Haha... same here., it’s the same reason I put that sarcastic post about Thor and Superman the other day. I may indulge for a while, but I couldn’t care less in general. Actually, I feel in the mood today.. so I’m defending Thor in this one over there ![]()

....well the battle board is doing it's usual "bad writing", "Cates is a hack", "Cates doesn't know anything, look at his depiction of Thanos" blah blah blah. This no different then the stupid WWHulk story line or basically any Superman or Justice League story for the past 15 years. Character "A" get's a huge push which we KNOW is a temporary power upgrade and posters act like someone ran over their dog or slapped their mother. Thor fans should just enjoy the read and non-Thor fans should let it go, it's a comic book this is about as news worthy and life altering as how Kim Kardashian shaves her ninny lol.

I guess I expect too much from this hobby.

I agree with you, characterization and character development is basically a lost art. Nowadays it's all about the flash and getting your quick superhero splash page fix or trying to push a political/social directive. It could be a sign of the times, we live in a world where people can only handle 5-minute or less sound bites. Any-kind of meaningful progress of a character takes time and is a slow build with sensible explanations as to why this character is heading off in this direction. Will it add to the overall character? Or will it be forgotten when the next writer takes over? It basically comes down to the depth of the story and that is dependent on how capable a writer is and his well of knowledge and understanding of emotional nuances. It's about developing and creating the personality facets of the character not the usual one-dimensional depiction that most comic book characters display. The power upgrades should then follow AND tie-in to the emotional and character building progress the hero takes.

I am a Thor fan and a fan of cosmic characters. Not sure I have to do either of those things. I mean, I am not as mad as I would have once been but it is pretty rough. As Norvell says, we have lost the past art of telling stories through battles. It is possible to do things without humiliating characters like that for no real reason. Look Raist bunnies...

This whole storyline has basically been one large Thor fanboy love fest with Thor kicking butt with little to no reason. The story has little depth or any sensible resolution besides giving Thor fans a chance to see Thor "getting over" one of his biggest foes, this is basically Pro Wresting. I highly doubt Galactus is dead, Thor will stay at this power level, and that this story arc will have any meaningful lasting effects besides the fact that Thor fans have been demanding a great depiction of Thor kicking arse and are tired of Thor being the butt of jokes. Take it for what it is, a piece of cake for a starving fan. Little to no meaningful nutritional value but it taste and feels good for a short time. There are plenty of other comics where Thor is depicted "wrong" it's about time that the character the book is named after is actually in it and is the star for a brief moment.

True, but it’s been happening to Thor for too many years now. I’d say Thor is probably the only top tier character in Marvel who gets shafted 90%of the time more than the others. How many times do you see the Hulks, Namor, Sentry, Gladiator and even BRB get treated like Thor does? So I welcome this showing for Thor, it is at least some way to go in establishing him as a serious powerhouse again.

A good number, I was afraid it was bad but Cates did a decent thing so far. Hopefully the next steps are to solve the heavy inheritance.

I don't disagree with Thor being treated badly at all, but I do not think two wrongs make a right either. I am also pretty confident that we are going to see very wildly different power showings that cause confusion. He can easily handle a powered up Galactus but then will struggle against much lesser foes for no clear reason. Remember his Thanos killed all the cosmics and gods. Then two Thanos's and a Hulk struggled at Silver Surfer with Mjolnir. After looking to fairly easily kill Galactus and King Thor earlier... Just seems like a massive overshoot to me as it leaves not much to gain at the point. Does Thor deserve to be treated better. No question. I just am not convinced that is the way to do it. I am not worried about Galactus being dead. And I agree with the superficial thing. I just usually love big picture cosmic stories. I just do not feel like this one did favors for anybody in the end other than power levels. I just miss the days of seeing Thor shine, but it having some meat to it. I admit I am a bit fan of Galactus but would prefer to see him be humbled in a story that had a point. If Thor was capable of this the whole time than it pretty much just wasted most of the books time and the conflict within was useless. Look Raist bunnies...
