Subj: Titans #22: Because the League needs help

Titans 22 proved to me that I don't have to give up on DC, not entirely. Over the past year the Justice League books and Superman titles have been letting me down. But Titans and Teen Titans have been solid. Titans is the gold standard right now and this issue made me a massive Roy Harper fan, and Troy is in the top 5, also.

It doesn't hurt to have Paul Pelletier, one of the best illustrators in the business working on the story telling. And of course Dan Abnett who has brought little stories like Annihilation to the comic page has a tendancy to over acheive a little. The Brain, yes, THE BRAIN is the big bad here and just having that happen is novel and exciting. The bodyless ball of gray matter has extended his capabilities beyond any known scope, even his eastwhile companion Mallah concerned that he is dipping into madness. Of course it was Roy that stumbled onto the plan, but the JL refused to listen to his pleas, and insist, even as the world is under dire threat, on keeping Donna secured away in the Watchtower.

Last issue Roy had to go against his best friends, Wally and Dick, and held his own. But in this issue his betrayal by his ex, Chesire, has put him in a no win situation. He's going to die, but he's not giving up by a long shot. Only stubborn determination keeps him alive long enough for Donna to escape the Watchtower and come to his aid. With the Brain controlling the entire planet, the League split apart and in dire straits and his own team suffering from the fracture enforced by the League it looks like it's up to Donna and Roy to save the League, and the world.

Well, we know the others HAVE to show. There's only one way this ends, and it's with Titans Together.
