I'm reading The Walking Dead via TPB. The text on the back cover of the TPBs has always struck me as not quite hitting the tone of the series. It starts off ok
"How many hours are in a day when you don't spend half of them watching television? When is the last time any of us REALLY worked to get something that we wanted? How long has it been since any of us really NEEDED something that we WANTED?"
And it goes on about how grocery stores and cable TV is gone, but I feel like the wrap up is oddly hopeful for the series.
"In a world ruled by the dead, we are forced to finally start living."
There are moments in the longer story where that is true, like parts of Alexandra, and even the prison, pre-Governor, but so much of the story is about pure survival in spite of quality of life that last sentence just seems off to me.
