Is he such a key character that if he ever got zombied/killed off, that the series would come crashing to a halt?

I see him as being like Alan Alda was in mash, carol oconner in All in thge Family, as the focal point the show is built upon, and so when they moved on, the show would just die off with them!

Yes he's exactly like Alan Alda in MASH except without the passion, wit or charm.

He's our main character and we're stuck with Rick whether we like it or not. No matter how boring he is or how weird his southern accent is.

Personally, I don't think so. I don't really care for the character or actor. I could easily follow most of the other major good guys.

However, it seems that this whole thing is his story.

Would be nice if they actually had an end game planned for the walking dewad show...

Could see it as Rick waking up from a coma in the hospital, and watching the show on the tv set in his room, and saying in his normal British accent"what the bloody$#@%!"

That is my main point, as he is to me the one member that could not be written off without the show grinding to a halt and jumping the shark...

Only way that it might work would be as the final show, and have him pass the baton unto his son to be their new leader now.

Not fond of the very popular theory that this is all a dream. I'll be very disgusted if that ever happens. The whole "it's a dream" thing was cliche even amongst kids 40 years ago.

I don't like the rest of them either. Except Ezekiel. But he's new. He hasn't annoyed me yet.

My problem with the Walking Dead show is no one I like sticks around for very long. I liked Shane, Dale, Herschel, Tyrese...now I'm stuck watching a show with no one I really like.

And Fear The Walking Dead is even worse. Almost no one on that show is remotely likeable or decent except that guy that likes to torture people that was part of some El Salvador death squad. The others are just somehow worse than he is.

It's his story. His overly long, dull plodding story.

Could be that his daughter is austic, and that the entire series was all in her mind!

Or better he wakes up and he is Simon from Teachers and he snaps and throttles Jim Corden int he classroom and we are spared his stupid antics and Alexandra Burke was never stalked by the fat gimp.

At one of the ComiCons this year, one of the producers (Gimple?) said that it definitely is not a dream or fantasy. My guess is they're going to do this throughout the season to slowly time jump about eight years in the future to follow the book.

No I think it's going to be like Lost season 4. They do flash forwards to show you how profoundly f*cked up everyone's life is in the future.

I think so, although I have found him less interesting as time has gone on. Really, most of the characters I have not particularly liked for a while now. Maybe Daryl but meh.

It is hard to say what sort of legs the show has left anyway.
