Subj: The First time Paradise Island was Named 'Themiscyra'?

I had thought 'Themiscyra' was a Perez addition to the mythos but I was rereading some old stuff and raised an eyebrow - it was actually used somewhere in the #300s of the original Wonder Woman series!
Anyone nail down the precise origins of the name and it's relevance in the original continuity?
