Subj: Wonder Woman Ponderings: Any Empathy with Nippon/Japanese? The Isolation of the Amazons Resembles to an Extent the Isolation of Japan/Nippon prior to Circa 1868 and Matthew Perry

An idol of Amaterasu occurs in an Unknown Solider tale in Star Spangled War Stories#173. Other than that, the Kami seem to recur infrequently in WWII set tales. Prima facie, the Amazons might seem to empathize with Nipponaisi, as the pre-1868/Matthew Perry isolation resembles the Amazon's isolation.

To attend to a prior conflict:

Setting Wonder Woman in the Great War, seems intriguing, as of participant countries, most seemed to have official reverence of Jesus of Nazareth:

USA, France: Lack official pantheons, although the French government only made that transition more thoroughly in 1905

Ottoman Empire: officially Islamic perhaps-still honor Jesus as a sage

Kaiserreich, Hohenzollern Germany: officially Luther perhaps

Habsburgs/Hungary: officially Roman Catholic perhaps

Tsarist Russian Empire/Romanovs: officially Eastern Orthodox

United Kingdom, Saxe-Coburg-Gotha: officially Anglican

The Japanese involvement in the Great War seemed more peripheral compared to a certain following conflict. The Ottoman Empire served as the closes to an odd one out; however, as noted above, the government still claimed to honor Jesus. Members of the Ottoman Empire engaged in a sneak attack on the Russian Empire, perhaps imitating the Japanese sneak attack on the Russian Empire during the Russo-Japanese war, though this sneak attack did not particularly seem as crucial as a certain subsequent sneak attack on Hawaii. The Ottoman Empire seemed otherwise less of an aggressor in the Great War.

Therefore, those participant countries that had official pantheons, acknowledged Jesus of Nazareth in varying forms-Mohammed taught that Jesus served as a prophet.

The Amazons calibrate to a separate pantheon, so perhaps they could have castigated all these self-styled followers of Jesus for resorting to armed conflict.
