I always thought Illyana's magic outside of limbo was weak (except for her soulsword). Also, Illyana really hasn't used her magic outside of limbo; she has relied mostly on her teleportation powers/soulsword. She might have been a little rusty. And given that the Phoenix Force messed up her mutant powers, it is not a far stretch that it messed with her sorcery abilities as well.

So maybe her sessions with Strange are more refresher/strengthening courses rather than teaching courses.

Me too.

This PF5 power mess-up is fine as a concept but it comes across as selectively aknowledged and only emerges and is anti-deus-ex-machina if the story needs the plot device. It feels like it should be a key to the storylines but is the by and large not at all.

Terrribly handled retro-upgrade and temporal-training. (Still not happy with her publically accepted unique sentient status which doesn't help her character q-rating either.)
