At this site:
http://marvel.wikia.com/Rachel_Summers_(Earth-811)/Gallery
it says "Rachel Finds out there's only one of her in the Multiverse from Uncanny X-Men #462" it cannot mean that every appearance we see Rachel in every backissue comics it's the same singular girl that we know from the 616? But how do Cross-Time Rachels differ from alt-reality Rachels - of which she says there is none? (Wonder how long it'll be before we learn if she's heard of Ruby Summers from X-factor run?)

This never made sense to me. We know there are alternate-reality Rachels- one of them gave birth to Hyperstorm. How is that an "aspect of Rachel's past", unless Rachel was pregnant at some point and never told the readers.

what Rachel actually is/was? Was Rachel's Mom actually Jean Grey merged with the Phoenix; or was she the Phoenix posing as Jean Grey? I think the retcon (the Phoenix posing as Jean Grey) was in play during Rachel's debut.

At her debut (in 1980), she was simply Jean's daughter. There was no Phoenix Force/Entity nonsense. But this was later changed to her mom being the Jeanix of DoFP.

Not really sure when Claremont decided he wanted turn her into a child of the Phoenix, but that's never explicitly been canon. Canonically, all evidence still points to her being Scott and Jean's daughter. There is only the suggestion (and it is only a suggestion) that Scoot isn't her father from the Days of Future Present annuals. However, there is physical evidence from Excalibur that shows her to have Summers DNA. Of course, there's also evidence that she can telekinetically alter her DNA to turn herself into a dinosaur.

I guess Claremont likes her being unique, while other writers in Exiles for example had alternate Rachels pop up, hence this being a strikeback against them.
Given the nature of parallel worlds and alternative timelines
Rachel being unique doesn't really make sense.
