New Mutants, Blue, X-23, Hunt for Wolverine, X-verse's DP, mutants in Runaways... so much happening this week! Now, let's react to 0-DAY reactions for this book...
Extermination 002 (of 5)
Quote: Extermination #2 storytime Anonymous 08/29/18(Wed)18:42:27 No.102650146
Last time, Cable killed Cable. Today, Cable might kill Cable again.
Didn't happen. Mostly the same as premiere and yet it was entertaining enough. Waiting half a decade to wipe out the O5 adds to the excitement.

Morbid and baffling change from Bobby's capture. He's ironically using Apoc's methods! BV-wings are THAT easy to remove? It's prob harder to remove Young Iceman's upgrades? Maybe he mindmushed him to remove his iceclones upgrade?

It's not. The miniseries is meant to retire the O5, not to bring anyone back, specially not him. Maybe in Uncanny.
And it's becoming obvious what's happening here: a threat in two fronts (Cable snatching the O5 and willing to kill if necessary) and Ahab with his Hounds relentlessly going after them too will eventually make it necessary for them to willingly surrender to Cable to prevent further attacks and consequences. All the current conflict will be solved by them saying "you guys must go."
Hmm...

Yeah, meanwhile Cable is resetting them to factory settings so they can send them back smoothly. Though this'll also mean forcing Bobby back into the closet. I wonder how he'll get Angel's regular wings to grow back though.

My question is who is that cute little french mutant caring for OML's hand?
Quote: Anonymous 08/29/18(Wed)20:17:33 No.102651502
oh ok. how does our cable not know that his past self already did this stuff, or did he know, and just let his young self kill his old self? or is this a young cable, but from another seperate more different timeline?
Ahh, timetravel tales... A good bit was actually and pertinently footnoting that time Present Cyke disappeared when Past Cyke died for a minute.
Quote: Anonymous 08/29/18(Wed)20:26:49 No.102651641
Cable's timeline isn't really a Point A -> Point B kinda deal. Consider this, the O5 being in the present only happened because of tampering with the timeline which shouldn't have necessarily happened. So a younger Cable from a different point in the timeline would have found out about the O5 being brought to the present while "our" Cable didn't know when he was that same age because it hadn't happened in the timelines he was jumping to.
Cable is untethered to the timeline which is how he can jump around it all willy nilly.
A page from Ewing's Ultimates says it better, but basically, the "past" and the "future" are fluid. The past changes (which we perceive as retcons or the sliding timescale) and any timeline has a bunch of "potential" futures that only get cemented as the timeline shifts forward from the "present" perspective. But then, because the past changes as well, the "present" present can change once it becomes the "past" present. There is no "set" timeline of events, so people like Cable or Kang who are essentially untethered from the flow of time can jump around. So this Young Cable came about because Cable at that age found out about the O5 while Cable at that age wouldn't have originally known about the O5 because they happened in a "potential future" which hadn't coalesced yet. The "present" we are in now was just one of many "potential" futures from Cable's perspective at the time, a future he might not have even been aware of.
It's also why bringing Cable back to life is trivial because Cable from earlier in his timeline can just find out that he died at a certain point in a certain timeline and just... not go there. Bam, Cable is back.
Hmm... What's XMB think about this...

It's established fact that Rachel can alter her DNA at will. She turned herself into a dino-person just by thinking it.
Anyway, I think the hound marks are like the Shi'ar phoenix tattoo she got and are imprinted on her DNA. His proximity is like a disease flareup.

MJ, Marlo, Patsy, yup. Who else? Older Jean, up 'til her 2nd death, sure. As long as artists don't randomly add and/or dump freckles differently panel to panel. But Jeen has been mishandled since coming here and a flawed character can be a turn off. She has had sweet and cute moments and that may have gotten her there eventually.

The thread droned on to reveal the suspect was Older Cyke. And speculations against that theory.

The mastery over his ice-powers and ability to create ice-clones will be hard to undo if that is in Young Cable's plan. Hence, the mindmushing suggestion.

That supercitizen Hala still gots hers, right? But yeah, wasn't it stated that everyone else's faded. Definitely, Marvel stumbled and fumbled that Event affects moving forward.
Quote: Hope so. I hope this story ends with Old Cable killing Young Cable. Yay paradox!
The paradox would be neat enough. Old could disappear (forever) with the killing of his Young self (as footnoted). This concept must have been done with Kang/Immortus or some other big time medium character, eh?

Checks last issue when he could've been injured/infected... was it a psi-infection manifesting?...
P.S. Oops, sorry, missed censoring that one f-bomb feel free to edit out.
"Emma or resurrected Jean preying on Youngclops" may be a bit intensely phrased but many posters probably predicted dynamics of various intents developing between them as a storyplot. Of course, none of that happened. More or less just one cordial PC "How d'you do, Lil Tyke".
Quote: It's established fact that Rachel can alter her DNA at will. She turned herself into a dino-person just by thinking it.
That's wack. Did not know that. Don't like it. But then again, hate Storm's, Danvers, et al. ability to mentally transform their clothes into costumes.
Quote: Anyway, I think the hound marks are like the Shi'ar phoenix tattoo she got and are imprinted on her DNA. His proximity is like a disease flareup.
Hmm... that makes it sound more reasonable.

No Deadpool's Allowed club. Oooh, so that ain't a poorly drawn Honey Badger looking at Kurt. Very odd(ie.dumb) to include the French tots. And why cramp in a tiny office when Kitty knows they have nice big classrooms for confabs like in Hunt for Wolverine this week.
Quote: On the other hand, certain groups might be less willing to attack because of civilian casualties.
Kitty must have pulled in some HUGE NYC FAVORS somewhere 'cuz that definitely doesn't seem her call to make.

A few more thoughts/questions -
This dialogue from Cyclops was poignant: "...and now here we are in the future, where we should have already made a difference... and nothing's changed. We're still fighting...."
Adult Warren has regular bird wings again? I like it!
Kitty's plan was smart. So then Cyclops ruins it by running out into the rain by himself.
Cyclops shouldn't have had to run into the woods in order to get close enough to zap Young Cable. But I love how the artist depicts the optic blast as all hell breaking loose.
Has it really been the O5's choice to stay in the present day? I thought they were stranded here.
"Bodyslide by two" is one of my favorite things to read in a comic.
Jean wants to go with the old X-Force crew. Do you think she just likes them better? Or is it a strategic choice? I'm guessing she thinks they'll do a better job of predicting Young Nate's plan of attack.
I wonder if Young Cable can make Young Warren's bird wings grow back.
Does Young Hank have any chance at all against Hound Logan? I'm thinking he needs to run. But even that seems problematic since he'll have to carry Rachel. I think his best bet - if he can manage it - is to go upward. To climb. Wolvie can climb too but not as well as Hank, I don't think.

Rachel

Firestar
Bethany Cabe
Beverly Switzler (maybe the hottest of them all)
Colleen Wing
Medusa
Crystal (strawberry blonde)
Delphyne Gorgon (in her human form)
Elsa Bloodstone
Frankie Raye (naw... hottest! literally)

Marlo Chandler
Mystique (another swoony sitch)
Transonic (blue Generation Hope girl -- swoon)
Mera of Atlantis (yay swoon *glubglub*)

Siryn
Sharon Ventura... until She-Thing
Satana sometimes (when she's hottest, imo)

Well equating 'sexy' character to your list...
Besides MJ, Marlo, Patsy, definitely agree with:
Bethany Cabe
Beverly Switzler
Medusa (d'oh! of course)
Frankie Raye (pre-Nova)
Satana sometimes
Red Sonja (even post-Marvel)
Mera is a great non-Marvel mention. And if you include Red Sonja, there's also Red Sophia and Red Monika. Just waiting for a Marvel crossover with Jessica Rabbit.
Black Widow (when hair is longer - although black hair is swoony on her too)
Thundra (when she's not in smash mode)
Tigra (when it's red not brown - rrroww!)
Shamrock (at times)
Gamora (Zoe Saldana version)
We debated the colour of Wanda's hair before and maybe compromised on "Auburn" more often than not and should be included with some of those shades of red you listed. Definitely Shanna the She-Devil too if she is a 'strawberry'. Amora posing as a redhead on Wonder Man #2 cover ain't too shabby either.

Thanks for the correction. For some reason thought there was one remaining alien character that retained the power.

Which makes his apparent possession all the more... baffling.

Nah. Hala is a post-Secret Wars creation.
There was the guardian of the Black Vortex, Gara. Maybe you're thinking about her.
Ronan may or may not have the upgrade, but other than Angel, he's the only remaining upgraded one besides Angel (maybe you mean him). It really doesn't seem like he's still upgraded though. Gamora, Thane, Kitty, and Czar-Doon the Badoon all faded. Adult Beast, Teen Cyclops, Teen Iceman, and Groot all willingly gave back the power.

Not really that baffling. Regardless, the girl was calling attention to his injury, which is likely the point of infection.

An impatient Armor? Also, rechecking that panel inspired my newest banner submission.
That's it! She has the X medallion on her neck/chest. Thanks.

But is Armor normally that assertive?
I think the character is Armor, yes, but I also think the dialogue balloon is pointing at the wrong character. It ought to be pointing at Kitty.

Quote: Adult Warren has regular bird wings again? I like it!
Well, yes. See Astonishing X-Men. He "hulks out" with his metal wings.
Quote: Kitty's plan was smart. So then Cyclops ruins it by running out into the rain by himself.
Because he's a whiny little cry baby. WAH! Why are even his teen friends following him? He's acting hysterical, and I want Teen Jean to smack him "classic Hollywood" style.
Quote: Cyclops shouldn't have had to run into the woods in order to get close enough to zap Young Cable. But I love how the artist depicts the optic blast as all hell breaking loose.
Eh. I'd assume he couldn't even tell which tree Cable was behind until that particular place.
Quote: Has it really been the O5's choice to stay in the present day? I thought they were stranded here.
They went back once (X-Men Blue #18-20). They chose to come back to the future. Their logic was that the timeline needed to be fixed and would still be messed up if they had stayed. However, that logic fails because the longer they're away the more screw up it gets.
Quote: "Bodyslide by two" is one of my favorite things to read in a comic.
Mayhap the best thing Liefeld ever created.
Quote: Jean wants to go with the old X-Force crew. Do you think she just likes them better? Or is it a strategic choice? I'm guessing she thinks they'll do a better job of predicting Young Nate's plan of attack.
Maybe a dig at the others, who she mostly doesn't like much, I think.
Quote: I wonder if Young Cable can make Young Warren's bird wings grow back.
I'm betting they'll probably do that on their own.
Quote: Does Young Hank have any chance at all against Hound Logan? I'm thinking he needs to run. But even that seems problematic since he'll have to carry Rachel. I think his best bet - if he can manage it - is to go upward. To climb. Wolvie can climb too but not as well as Hank, I don't think.
Young Hank has magic. Who knows.

It seems more like something Kitty would say. Maybe the letterer messed up and that was supposed to be for Kitty.
Still, that was definitely Armor back there.

Besides MJ, Marlo, Patsy, definitely agree with:
Quote:
Quote: Bethany Cabe
Beverly Switzler
Medusa (d'oh! of course)
Frankie Raye (pre-Nova)
Satana sometimes
Red Sonja (even post-Marvel)

Quote: Mera is a great non-Marvel mention.
Not sure why I wrote Mera. I meant Dorma.

Quote: > Hala was not upgraded by the Black Vortex. She has no special abilities beyond what normal Kree have.
Thanks for the correction. For some reason thought there was one remaining alien character that retained the power.
Nah. Hala is a post-Secret Wars creation.
Quote: There was the guardian of the Black Vortex, Gara. Maybe you're thinking about her.
GARA!! YES!! That's the name that clearly escaped me! Thanks!!
And you could be right about Billie Lumpkin too (in the other branch), she just needed a bit more facetime to get better acquainted with her. chronologyproject says she was in, like, only 10 issues and only read a few, iirc. She certainly looks sexy in that panel below.
[EDIT: Hmm... does Gara kinda have red hair? ]
[EDIT2: Thanks for using the banner!]
[EDIT3: Does Ruby Thursday count as a redhead? ]
I miss Dad & Dan.

Quote: Speaking of continuity... Calvin Rankin?! WEHT him before this? Something decades ago, he came back to life after his death in Hulk, right?
Not sure why he's a target. I thought Cable was targeting time displaced mutants.
My guess is that Cable is trying to reset the O5 to their original setting, so he can then send them back to their proper time and thus restore the time line.
In order to accomplish this with Warren, since he now has those black vortex wings, he's going to cut off Calvin's wings and attach them to Warren. That's why we see Cable cutting off the black vortex wings.

These French kids are obviously important to the plot. We just don't know why yet.
Looking back at Hunt For Wolverine Dead Ends #1 https://www.comicboards.com/php/show.php?msg=ironman-2018090101465346 and that different POV image of "Lil Miss Ponytail", " Mademoiselle Medusa-lite"?, the French mutant girl will probably be like Rapunzel in the GREAT Disney film version. Able to manipulate (ie.lug around) her hair as easily as Ghost Rider does his chain, eh? My copyright submission would be " Lady Locks" (especially when she's older).
I miss Dad & Dan.

I'm not sure why you would think that's the same girl. It's not.
