Subj: Domino - Hotshots #1: Not so hot...

Domino: Hotshots (2019) 001 (of 5)

What a let down. Or my hopes & expectations were too high. The script here was nowhere near as fun as the previous Domino series.

BLACK WIDOW JOINS? The forced addition of Black Widow felt, SO FORCED. Tasha maintaining the illusion of her death is SO UNCONVINCING. Clint, Bucky, Cap, Madripoor high profile characters, all know she's alive already. Not to mention whatever bigwig coordinated with her for this mission. The art was good overall but the special f/x's that came from her Widow Stingers were SO TERRIBLE.

Speaking of her mission - another Celestial Story to end all Celestial stories? Yawn. And the Throwaway Scientist they transmodetransform here? Meh. And now Outlaw is 'infected' and is surely doomed? Meh.

At this point - it would be quite a coo to complete this arc in 4 more issues and make this superpower ascension crisis of normal humans end up as "epic" as that of, say for example, The Exemplars, The Evolutionaries or the Lords of Light and Darkness - all of whom have gone pretty well nowhere since.

BOROMIR PLEDGE? This was reference to Boromir in Lord of the Rings? Remind me how it is a term of treason - did he renege on his promise to protect Frodo?

THE MOON NATIONALIZED? Is the moon already divvyed up between countries? Is there a link to some site showing a map of who claims what areas? Ifff true, wonder who owns the Blue Area? And on a sidenote, who the heck is speaking the narration boxes in the prologue? Hardly relatable if the reader isn't made aware.

HOTSHOTS? Hardly. They didn't even do anything that was very hot. Nothing was endearing about any of the Hotshots. Heck, they didn't even get a team name origin. Okay, maybe Outlaw was the most marginally interesting here.

Do YOU think this has a shot at being a hot seller?
