Major X 002

Mystery to keep the readers guessing is a staple of comics. Misdirection and misinformation can be understandble fair elements of a story at times. But other times it feels like lies or Editor SNAFU. Case in point, the identity of THE X-ENTIAL that is probably slated to be a shocking reveal issues from now. This is a good one. Then there's THE CATALYST stranger to ID, too. The bad exposition is the origin time and place of him(her?) - and Major X, 'natch. So, this seems to reaffirm that this story is not connected to Age of X-Man Event. (On the other hand, how do you misplace a Reality unless maaaybe it WAS all just a bad Nate dream, or somehow it's someway to-be-imagined-future-crossing, and Nate will awake with Major X still existing?) THE X-ISTENCE appears to be some What-Iffy alternate future timeline; maybe a metatextual sandbox for Mr.Liefeld to play with as he chooses? This unconfirmed 'mystery' is deal breaking and book dropping RIDICULOUS. And this X-treme turn off happens on page 11 (that just reconfirms last issue's time and place) that has Old Man ORIGINAL Cable ALIVE and well and in the PRESENT:

BAH!

But if this maintains sales, there'll probably be lots of who begat who What-Iffy guessing games to follow. ..."Nomar". Heh. Also, the inside art was thankfully okay, again - but man, those heads on the cover look like they were an ugly cut and paste on previously drawn to different scale bodies.
