Uncanny X-Men 017
The gravestone on cover should've had her name. It wasn't like it was a great surprise or mystery who got buried.
Lame Freebie Theme Quote Page. Guess we assume it's Scott talking with the ruby background, eh. It wasn't a bad one for what it is.
Roll Call Page fails: So. Clearly the WotR crossover happen BEFORE this if Rahne is really dead. And if she is why does Cyke have 2 eyes. Look like readers are cheated of vote and they let Hope and Sean out of there cells to pose for headshot. Is Jamie crying in his? And Shouldn't Cain be included if they're accepting members between issues?
Recap Page is... Waitaminnit. Random was a PREVIOUS Brotherhood member? USA has a Air Force Base in Transia? No update on Joseph or footnote to WotR? Sigh.
"I'LL BE QUIET NOW." Ha! DB actually has a funny line.
So, they are literally low-tech looking iron bar cells [sarcasm]with superhuman prisoners on the honor system. Plus, there's the "brilliant" idea of making Warlox blending as the warden. /sarcasm]. First Yana freed Hope on a whim during WotR and now Logan does it for Kwannon. Second, readers need more status on Warlox before just matter-of-factly assigning him this key job. Sigh.
Nice Havok scene given his team history with Wolfsbane.
Can anyone name all the funeral attendees that aren't on the Roll Call Page? Sheesh, even Nate doesn't want Doop in his Age of X-men World. We to get an official list of so many key players that did 'die' druing this AoX Evenet. Any names stick out of place?
"TOO MANY OTHERS TO NAME." Ha! They really went there after rambling off umpteen thousand of 'em?
Is this a new reveal about Rahne's middle name? The service was very nice. Uhh... WHERE IS MacDonaill?
The flashback telling of Rahne's death was surprisingly well presented. She died a miserablebut very poignant death at the hands of trope bigots. Wolverine's revenge fantasy was predictably well presented. Wolverine is who he is and it's a regression to his eye-for-eye beliefs over years of cultivating an Avenging spirit. What's disturbing is trying to imagine just how far Logan would have gone if O*N*E* didn't show up. It also more or less confirms that X-men did kill O*N*E* agents previously.
Yana, what's with the school marm look?
Dani, why didn't you throw in some valkyrior wisdom?
Kwan, since when do you go to psionically plug in like that to do telepathy?
The Logan/Scott schism that results was believably done too. You may really think that Logan will be really off the team (and free to play with the Savage Avengers).
Fantastic memory loss ending with Emma Frost. Great move (presumably) by her! Hmm... isn't this a repeat storytwist reported to be going on AoX with certain people starting to remember the 616? Still wasn't a bad one for what it is and reminds me of a backissue great line when Swiss Cheese Brain Tony Stark forgot who Happy Hogan was, post-Dark Reign.
Sidebar Question 1:
Okay, Dani/Rahne HAD a psychic rapport. Jean/Scott have one OR HAD one since it ain't working for some reason. Who else has/had a psychic rapport in the MU that'd know when someone gone?
Sidebar Question 2:
Scott, Nick Furys, Callisto, Logan masquerading as Patch, ...who else of note has/had 'one eye'?
