Diana Rigg, DBE, who played Emma Peel on "The Avengers", Tracy Bond in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service", and Lady Holiday in "The Great Muppet Caper" has passed away. The X-Men franchise is of course especially indebted to her via the Avengers episode "A Touch of Brimstone", which featured a modern-day Hellfire Club and inspired Chris Claremont and John Byrne to do the same thing in the Hellfire Club and Dark Phoenix Sagas ca. 1979. The iconic Black Queen costume first worn by Phoenix in that series was directly modeled on the one worn by Mrs. Peel in that 1966 episode.
