Well...first off, let us not assume they'll be ruined. There's a few old A-teamers that could only be helped by panel time, even if its not the most ideal of situations.

Swordsman...eh. I'd rather see Phil Jarvert & Maggie come back from whatever reality Kurt sent them to, myself. Magdelene would work, being a formerly crazy ex-gatherer.

I dunno about Hellcat being a candidate. I've not read much on her since her resurrection, but she always seemed to cling to the Avengerhood pretty strongly. Wasn't the conflict between her trying to be the noble hero while Daimon was the nutty spawn of satan what ultimately drove her nuts and led to her death to begin with?

I can't see her being all edgy and revengy. Her parents taught her better than that.

Dane? Really? Nah. Maybe the Harras version, but not the one we've seen in M-13.

Oh it would have been awesome if this had been Dane's idea and not Simon's.

Jack of Hearts...that I could see. Sort of a "Why didn't you try to save me?!" kick. But that'd make him really evil, and if the tow-line right now is that the Revengers aren't really a VILLAIN team, it doesn't work.

I disagree about Angelica, though. Firestar retired rather than play hero after she saw what happened in Stanford. If ANYONE beyond simon could make a case for banning or working against organized hero teams, I think she could.

I couldn't see Angel or Vance doing it.

As much as I'd love to see Gilgamesh again...explain to me the logic. (Granted, this is the Eternal they killed, so logic is odd when it comes to Gigglemess, but still...I don't see it.)

(Gigglemess...grrrrr I hate that nickname...if you're going to mock him at least be nice and call him cowhead)

To me you could make a case for almost any second or third string member. You couldn't with Cap, Thor, Hawkeye etc but I could see the lesser members seeing the Avengers as ineffectual. I don't see Gilgamesh joining because no one ever remembers him but he would make sense. He's always been the one who wanted to do his own thing. If anyone hates paradigms it's Gil. He's always been a individualistic loner in a society where his kin form the uni-mind. Maybe a team might not be the best for him but I could see him coming to the conclusion that Wondy has and make an alliance because of it...the Avengers are ineffective and someone has to take the fight to the villains. You can't tell me in all those years of adventuring he always did things within our modern framework of morality. He didn't have Odin or Zeus looking over his shoulder like Thor and Herc did. He was estranged from his people and the world was a nasty place in ancient times...well it's still nasty really.

And didn't Gil come back from the dead a while back or am I thinking of someone else?

Madame Web? I thought Julia was doing the Arachne thing?

Truthfully, the one that sprang to mind first was the Sandman. If there was money in it, I'd imagine he'd be all for it.

That's why I don't think he would be invited. I think Simon wants Avengers who actually agree with him rather than building a super human army to compete with the Avengers.
