Quote:Do you think there's anything about contemporary comics that would appeal to, or even be understood, by children?
Why wouldn't A-Force appeal to children? So far, it's been just plain superheroic fun.
Quote:I started reading Marvel when I was 8-years-old. Comics back then didn't have conversations between the male heroes about which female heroes they slept with.
Don't know when you were 8 years old. I was 14/15.
But topics like this came up in X-Men when I was young. One of the best issues of X-Men was the time when Wolverine allowed Juggernaut to kick Colossus' butt because of issues about who Piotr slept with. And shortly before that was the time Kitty offered her virginity to Colossus.
The only comic book my daughter ever liked was Runaways, which talked about that. Okay, she was 11.
Quote:They also didn't have depictions of arms being ripped off in gory detail.
Most still don't. Don't see what this has to do with A-Force.
Quote:And since comics are almost exclusively sold in specialty stores where nary a child is found, then I'd say that the demographic I mentioned was pretty accurate.
Kids come into my LCS. They need to be with an adult, though.
Quote:And older men? Only the die hards are clinging to their hobby. None of the men I know who collected comics in their twenties still does today. And the reason is all the same, modern comics stink.
New blood is entering the LCSes. They just tend to be older. The vast majority of kids I know don't spend much on reading anything. Comics were an extreme niche back in the day, and they still are.
City of Heroes is BACK!
